04/04/95 Version number: BETA 2.0 This is a BETA 2.0 release of the APA-460 SlimSCSI driver. This version eliminates a check for a particular ROM revision in the APA-460 and now should work with all revisions. Installation in OS/2 WARP is identical to any other SCSI host adapter, with one exception. You must install the PCMCIA services in WARP first, then edit your CONFIG.SYS to add the T160SCSI.ADD driver at the end of the CONFIG.SYS. If you don't already have your system set up to support your SCSI device (eg: CD-ROM), then install that support via the Selective Install in WARP before booting your system up. It isn't currently possible to install WARP from a PCMCIA-attached CD-ROM drive, since you need to install the PCMCIA drivers before you can do that, and you can't install the PCMCIA drivers until after you have WARP installed! Catch-22. IBM will need to visit this problem in the future and possibly provide instructions for manually creating a PCMCIA version of Disk 1 that would allow this kind of install. This is a limitation of the WARP Installation, not a limitation of PCMCIA or the SlimSCSI itself. 11/08/94 Version number: BETA 1.0 (941108) This is a BETA 1.0 release of APA-460 Host adapter. This driver version support APA-460 PCMCIA card for Laptops installed with PCMCIA sockets and T160 Adapter card as well. This release has added /ADDR command line switch. This will allow users to choose a port address for 460 card. Example: BASEDEV=T160SCSI.ADD /ADDR=360 will assign port address 360. This driver is based on OS/2 V3.0 (WARP) operating system. ***** NOTE ***** Currently, only one APA-460 card is supported. APA-460 card has 4 I/O space ranges defined: 360h-36fh, 350h-35fh, 260h-260h, and 250h-25fh. But, currently ONLY port 360h-36fh is working with APA-460. The card services is failing to initialize other ports. Therefore, the driver cannot detect the presence of a 460 card on any other ports besides 360h. Installation instructions for the APA-460 OS/2 3.0 PCMCIA Driver 1) Open the OS/2 System folder, then open the Selective install. 2) Do PCMCIA installation. 3) Edit CONFIG.SYS file and add BASEDEV=T160SCSI.ADD. 4) Copy T160SCSI.ADD to \OS2\BOOT directory. 5) Do a SHUTDOWN and power off the system. 6) Insert the APA-460 card into the PCMCIA socket and connect to the SCSI peripherals. 7) Power up and reboot the system. ***** NOTE ***** In order to install this driver for APA-460 card, the system has to have OS/2 V3.0 pre-installed. Currently, IBM does not have the support for CDROM installation with any PCMCIA card attached to a CDROM. Therefore, it is NOT recommended to do OS/2 CDROM installation using PCMCIA card.
