SKO1430.COM file Information ====================================================================== ÿ Seiko CM-1430 Monitor ====================== ÿ We have developed a solution to the problem that some Seiko Monitor owners are finding. The problem occurs during operation of the Seiko 1430 monitor with the 800 x 600 modes. The solution is SKO1430.COM, a program residing on the Utility Diskette included with your ProDesigner. To install the solution, simply copy the program to your hard disk (assuming drive C:) by placing the Utility Diskette in drive A: and typing: ÿ COPY A:SKO1430.COM C: You can run the program from your DOS prompt, by typing: SKO1430 You will only need to run SKO1430 one time during your computer session, before you use 800 x 600 modes. If you use 800 x 600 modes regularly you may want to run SKO1430.COM from your AUTOEXEC.BAT file so that the SKO1430 program will automatically run each time you boot up your computer. You will need to edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT file with an ASCII text editor (such as EDLIN), or an editor that will save an edited file in ASCII format. See your DOS manual for more information on the DOS text editor EDLIN and the formation and use of an AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Please note: If you find problems while using a mouse or other memory resident programs, try loading SKO1430 first before you load any resident memory programs. The following questions and answers will help to explain SKO1430.COM: Question: What is SKO1430.Com? Answer: SKO1430.Com is a program designed to permit the ProDesigner to run the Seiko 1430 monitor in 800 x 600 modes. It is RAM resident software (referred to as a TSR), approximately 12K in size. Question: Why do we need SKO1430.Com? Answer: Although the Seiko 1430 supports 1024 x 768 modes, it uses values which do not support the popular 800 x 600 scanning frequencies, such as ProDesigner modes 29 (800 x 600, 16 colors) and 30 (800 x 600, 256 colors). Orchid Technology is one of the few companies who have developed the software necessary to support 800 x 600 on the Seiko 1430. Question: How do we recognize the Seiko monitor problem? Answer: If you are using the Seiko 1430 monitor in 800 x 600 mode the screen may distort or blank out. In either case you need to use the SKO1430.Com program to correct the problem. Question: How does the SKO1430.Com program work? Answer: The SKO1430.Com program is loaded into memory at the DOS prompt (or in a batch file) where it remains to intercept and change the Prodesigner signals before they reach the Seiko monitor.
