DirectX 2 Runtime Setup Program --------------------------------------------- README.TXT -- 9/12/96 S3 Incorporated --------------------------------------------- Installation of Microsoft(r) DirectX(tm)2 for Windows(c)95 DirectX 2 provides an interface allowing applications (and games) direct access to advanced capabilities built into high-performance video accelerators. This README: 1. lists the files required for installing DirectX 2, 2. describes the installation process and 3. details what files are added to your Windows 95 system and what changes are made to your SYSTEM.INI file and registry. 1. Required files: DISKETTE 1 contains the following files: _INST32I.EX_ _ISDEL.EXE _SETUP.DLL _SETUP.LIB DIRECTX1.Z README.TXT REDIST.Z SETUP.EXE SETUP.INI SETUP.INS DISKETTE 2 contains the following files: DIRECTX2.Z 2. Installation: SETUP.EXE will install the DirectX 2 runtime files and the DirectVideo(tm) upgrade. To run SETUP.EXE: Step 1 Place the DirectX 2 diskette 1 into your A: drive Step 2 From the Start-Up bar: - Select Start | Run - Type A:SETUP (or click the OK button) OR From the Windows Explorer: - Double-click on A:SETUP.EXE - This will bring up the opening screen. Step 3 Press Next to continue with the installation. Otherwise, press Cancel to quit the installation program. If you select Next, Setup will automatically copy files and complete the installation. The installation program will remind you that you must restart Windows 95 in order for the changes made during the installation to take effect. 3. Files installed and changed: The DirectX 2 runtime libraries are copied into your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
