If your ATI product came pre-installed in a complete system, you may already have a special driver version installed (eg. IBM, AST, Gateway, NEC, Sony). ATI graphic processors are implimented on many 3rd party products. You should contact your system integrator for drivers certified for use with your system, especially if the ATI chip is incorporated on the mainboard or motherboard. This software should function correctly with ATI products based on mach64 GX chips. ATI does not recommend installing this software unless you are experiencing a problem with your current ATI Player as it has not completed certification for use with mach64 GX products. Version 2.2X of the mach64 Windows 95 Display Driver and ATI Player will continue to be available for use with mach64 GX products. Prior to installing the ATI Player, -Windows 95 MUST BE CONFIGURED for the ATI v3.03 Windows 95 Display Driver. -Windows 95 MUST have DirectDraw installed. If you do not have DirectDraw installed it is included with this installation. Select the "DirectX Setup" icon to install DirectX before installing the ATI Player. NOTE: This is not a complete installation of DirectX and will install only the under-lying support necessary to use the ATI Player. If you need the complete runtime installation download the current DirectX redist directory from http://www.microsoft.com The current version of DirectX (6 MB, self-extracting file) can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/mediadev/download/isdk.htm Last tried on December 19, 1996 ***************************** 2.0 System Requirements This product requires a mach64 PCI or VLB graphics accelerator. ISA cards and VLB cards with the aperture disabled will not be supported. The minimum recommended system is a Pentium with a double speed CD ROM and Windows 95. Windows 95 must be configured with the v3.03 display driver before installing the ATI Player. ***************************** 3.0 Installation Notes To uncompress 64MPG303.EXE and install the ATI Player use the following procedure. 1. Start Windows 95. 2. Install version 3.03 of the Windows 95 Display Driver. 3. a) Select Run from the Start icon OR b) Use Windows Explorer to select 64MPG303.EXE and skip Step #5. 4. When asked for the file to run, enter 64MPG303.EXE from the directory it was downloaded into. 5. Follow the instructions displayed to uncompress the installation files into C:\ATI\SUPPORT\ATIPLAY. 6. The ATI SETUP utility will be run from C:\ATI\SUPPORT\ATIPLAY. 7. Confirm DirectX is installed. If unsure select 'DirectX Setup" to install the runtime files. 8. Follow the instructions displayed in ATI SETUP. 9. Restart the computer to run Windows 95 using this new driver. After successfully installing the ATI Player, you can delete the contents of the directory C:\ATI\SUPPORT\ATIPLAY using the 'Remove ATI Player Temp Files' icon. We recommend that you keep a copy of 64MPG303.EXE, in case you need to install the ATI Player again. **************************** 4.0 Generating a Problem Report If contacting Technical Support regarding a problem you are experiencing please complete the Problem Report Wizard in the ATI Desktop Help Wizard. 1. Right click on the red ATI Toolbar icon. 2. Select Troubleshooting. 3. Select ATI DeskTop Help. 4. From the Troubleshooting menu select Problem Report Wizard. 5. Follow the instructions displayed in the help to complete the Problem Report.
