System requirements and KXL-D740 requirements 1-1 System requirements OS : Windows NT 3.51 This product may not be compatible with the computer under a Network environment (Client-Server, Peer to peer, and so on.). 1-2 KXL-D740 requirements If you use KXL-D740 connected to a SCSI I/F board to a desktop computer, it is possible that the PhotoCD Portfolio will not play. Please make sure the 6th character of the "SERIAL NO." that is written on the bottom of KXL-D740 is "D" or another letter after that. If not, you will not be able to play it. 2. Windows NT driver The following 3 files that are necessary for installing Windows NT 3.51 driver for the CD-ROM player KXL-D740 are contained on the setup disk. DISK1 This file is used while the setup program is running. QLMINI.SYS Windows NT 3.51 driver for KXL-D740. OEMSETUP.INF Windows NT 3.51 driver for KXL-D740 is installed by the information of this file. 3. Software Installation Make sure that the interface cable is connected to the Interface Card and also to the player. 1) Turn on the player and then insert the Interface Card into your computer's PCMCIA type II card slot. 2) Turn on your computer. Start Windows NT 3.51 and log on. 3) Double click the icon [Main] (in the Program Manager) and Double click the icon [Windows NT Setup]. "Windows NT Setup" window appears. 4) Click [Options] and click [Add/Remove SCSI Adapters...]. "SCSI Adapter Setup" window appears. 5) Click [Add...]. "Setup Message" window appears. 6) Click [OK]. "Select SCSI Adapter Option" window appears. 7) Choose "Other (Requires a disk from a hardware manufacturer)" from the [Adapter:] list. "Insert Disk" window appears. 8) Insert the supplied Setup disk into drive A (or B), and click [OK]. "Setup OEM Option" window appears. 9) Click [OK]. "Select SCSI Adapter Option" window appears. 10) Click [Install]. "Windows NT Setup" window appears. 11) Click [Continue]. Start to copy driver, and then "SCSI Adapter Setup" window appears. "Panasonic KXLC002 SCSI Host Adapter, for NT3.51" is added to the installed list. 12) Click [Close]. "Windows NT Setup" window appears. 13) Close "Windows NT Setup" window. "Setup Message" window appears. 14) Click [OK]. 15) Restart Windows NT 3.51, then you should be able to use KXL-D740. 4. Supplement (1) Playing audio CD on Windows NT 3.51 MediaPlayer If you wish to play an audio CD on the MediaPlayer through Windows NT 3.51, you must install the "(MCI) CD Audio" driver program. ***Method of adding*** 1) Double click the icon [Main]. (in the Program Manager) 2) Double click the icon [Control Panel]. 3) Double click the icon [Drivers]. If you find the "(MCI) CD Audio" in the [Installed Drivers] list, it has already been installed. Please end this procedure. 4) Click [Add...] button. 5) Click the "(MCI) CD Audio". 6) Follow the instructions on your screen. ***Method of playing*** 1) Double click the icon [Accessories]. (in the Program Manager) 2) Double click the icon [Media Player]. 3) Click [Device]. 4) Click "CD Audio". 5) To play, operate the keys on window. (2) How to remove the Windows NT 3.51 driver for KXL-D740 Make sure that the interface cable is connected to the Interface Card and to the player. 1) Turn on the player and then insert the Interface Card into your computer's PCMCIA type II card slot. 2) Turn on your computer. Start Windows NT 3.51 and log on. 3) Double click the icon [Main] (in the Program Manager) and Double click the icon [Windows NT Setup]. "Windows NT Setup" window appears. 4) Click [Options] and click [Add/Remove SCSI Adapters...]. "SCSI Adapter Setup" window appears. 5) Choose "Panasonic KXLC002 SCSI Host Adapter, for NT3.51" in the installed list, Click [Remove]. "Setup Message" window appears. 6) Click [OK]. "Setup Message" window appears. 7) Click [OK]. "SCSI Adapter Setup" window appears. 8) Click [Close]. "Windows NT Setup" window appears. 9) Close "Windows NT Setup" window. "Setup Message" window appears. 10) Click [OK]. 11) Restart Windows NT 3.51, to complete to deletion of the driver. (3) "Plug & Play" is not supported by Windows NT 3.51 "Plug & Play" is not supported by Windows NT 3.51, therefore, you do not remove or insert the Interface Card while Windows NT 3.51 is running. Whenever you operate KXL-D740 under Windows NT 3.51, please follow the steps below. Make sure that the interface cable is connected to the Interface Card and to the player. 1) Turn on the player and then insert the Interface Card into your computer's PCMCIA type II card slot. 2) Turn on your computer. Start Windows NT 3.51 and log on. 3) Do not remove the Interface Card while Windows NT 3.51 is running. 4) Shutdown Windows NT 3.51, turn off your computer, and then remove the Interface card. If you don't insert the Interface Card for KXL-D740 during the starting Windows NT 3.51, the ERROR message window appears because Windows NT 3.51 try to load the driver for KXL-D740. After you installed the driver for KXL-D740, insert the Interface Card whenever you start Windows NT 3.51. (4) Installing Windows NT 3.51 using KXL-D740 1) Boot your computer DOS. Install the driver for DOS. 2) Connect KXL-D740 to your computer, and reboot your computer to DOS. 3) Insert the "Windows NT 3.51 CD-ROM" in KXL-D740. 4) Change to \I386 directory on Windows NT 3.51 CD-ROM. 5) Type WINNT /B and hit RETURN key. 6) Follow the instructions on your screen. (5) While Windows NT 3.51 Setup program is running, the display massage will appear to add the mass storage device (SCSI adapters, CD-ROM devices, and so on). But you can not set up KXL-D740 in this process. After you finished Windows NT 3.51 Setup program, please follow steps "3. Installation Instructions".
