Place any CD into the CD-Writer. 2. Open Easy-CD (used with File Manager): - select the Easy-CD pull-down menu. - select CD Info. - look at the number to the left of the [OK] button. If it is 1.14 you need this upgrade. -OR- Open Easy-CD 95 (used with Explorer): - select the CD-R pull-down menu. - select CD Info. - look at the number to the left of the [OK] button. If it is 1.14 you need this upgrade. HOW DO I UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE??? 1. Run the CDR_F120.EXE program. In Windows 3.1: select File/Run, type a:\CDR_F120, and press Enter. OR In Windows 95: select Start/Run, type a:\CDR_F120, and press Enter. 2. Follow the directions on the screen. The red light on your CD-Writer will light up for several minutes while the firmware is upgrading. DO NOT DO ANYTHING ON YOUR COMPUTER UNTIL THE LIGHT GOES OUT. NOTE: In Windows 95, if auto-insert-notification was ON, the firmware upgrade program will turn it OFF and ask you to reboot. Reboot the machine and start over at step (1). NOTE: After the firmware upgrade, Windows 95 will ALWAYS turn auto-insert-notification ON. We recommend that you ALWAYS turn it OFF. HAVING TROUBLE??? * GPF in Windows 3.1 ??? This is known to happen in systems with multiple SCSI host adapter boards and an older version of the WINASPI.DLL file. Upgrading WINASPI.DLL requires updating two other files also: ADVW32.386 and ADVASPI.SYS. These files will be bundled together in a driver upgrade disc. Try the following: 1. Locate the new HP SureStore CD-Writer Drivers Installation Disk, part number 83-276A1-200. If you don't have this disk, you can download CDR95DRV.EXE from our BBS or FTP site. 2. Run SETUP.EXE and follow its instructions, bypassing the option to install the Software Installation Disc. 3. Run CDR_F120.EXE again.
