The file included in this self extracting ZIP called PCM.USR is an alternate configuration file for adding additional non-U.S. Robotics and/or non-modem PCMCIA cards to the "ACTIVE" Phoenix configuration. If you want to use this version of Phoenix Card and Socket services for a particular Ethernet, Token Ring, ATA, or Flash PCMCIA card, this file (PCM.USR) will offer quite a few card selections for different cards to be automatically configured by Phoenix. PCM.USR updates will be available on the U.S. Robotics BBS @ (708)982-5092 as they become available. Here's how to use it: 1) Run the standard Phoenix install 2) re-boot 3) Go to the C:\PCM3 subdirectory (or whatever directory you installed to) Example: CD\PCM3 4) Make a copy of the file PCM.INI Example: COPY PCM.INI PCM.DDD 5) Delete PCM.INI Example: DEL PCM.INI 6) Rename the file PCM.USR to PCM.INI Example: REN PCM.USR PCM.INI 7) Insert new PCMCIA card(s) to be configured. 8) Run PCM.EXE Example: C:\PCM3\PCM.EXE 9) Choose "Configure" from the drop down menu 10) Choose "Edit card configuration" 11) If your card is supported in pcm.usr (pcm.ini), then you'll now see your card and suggested configuration(s). 12) Use the Down and Up arrow keys to pick your desired configuration. NOTICE: If your card was not recognized, you can choose "Add Card," create the configuration, add it to the new PCM.INI file and execute. Also note: A lot of network PCMCIA cards seem to like D000 as a starting address. Also...Verify that your NET.CFG (or related network configuration file) address, IRQ, Ring speed, ect.. settings match these Phoenix Configuration settings you choose in PCM.EXE.
