Version 1 These files are intended to curcumvent problems when using VESA 2.0 modes under Windows 95 with a Trio64V+ (765) chip. 2 binary files are included in this package. s3fix3.com: TSR with same functionality as s3fix.exe below. Created by Jon Beltran de Heredia using superior TSR technology! He did what I was too lazy to do -- this TSR occupies only 48 bytes and can be uninstalled from memory with: s3fix3 u s3fix.exe: TSR which disables the screen clearing function of a VESA mode set. The screen clear is what causes the system to hang. I suggest using s3fix3.com (above) instead of this TSR. fixnblnk.exe: TSR which disables the screen clearing function of a VESA mode set and contains a replacement screen clearing function. In most cases, s3fix.exe works fine. Most applications will write their own image into video memory and don't really need a screen clear. Also, the replacement screen clear in fixnblnk.exe is slow and will slow down an application when it changes video modes. Also, I am not convinced that the replacement blanking routine works properly in all situations. To install, add a line to your autoexec.bat which runs one of the TSR's above. Make absolutely sure that you add this line AFTER the line(s) for your VESA 2.0 BIOS extensions. s3fix.exe and fixnblnk.exe are released to the public domain by their creator: Chris Oicles coicles@s3.com s3fix3.com may be distributed freely.
