***************************************************************** * ONELINER.PPE (c)1994 by Windmill Computer Services * ***************************************************************** ONELINER.PPE - a PCBoard add-on to display one line advertisements to callers. Three files are required for operation. ONELINER.PPE - the actual PPE program ONELINER.CFG - the configuration file ONELINER.TXT - the one-line ads to be displayed All 3 files must reside in the same directory, the one from which ONELINER is called, to operate properly. The .CFG and .TXT filenames are "hardcoded" into the PPE. Do not change them or the system will not run properly. ONELINER.CFG - The configuration file must contain 2 entries. The first entry is the number of AD-Lines contained within ONELINER.TXT. This is the MAXIMUM number of ADS that will be displayed by ONELINER.PPE. The second entry is a 'counter' that will be incremented by ONELINER.PPE. You should initially enter the number "1" in this position. Each time the PPE is run, it will increment this counter. When the counter reaches the MAXIMUM specified above, it will automatically be reset to the number "1". ONELINER.TXT - This file contains the actual "ads" to be displayed to the caller. Each "ad" must be contained on 1 line. The ads may contain PCBoard @Xxx codes for ANSI colors to be used for display enhancement. At The Windmill BBS, we use the PCBEDIT program, from Clark Development, to generate the ad lines. You may make the single-lines VERY long (about 240 characters) and the program will wrap long lines around to the next "logical" line in PCBoard. Gives the appearance of 2-3 line ads, so you can use "boxes" or other enhancements to display the teaser ads. (Look at the sample ONELINER.TXT included in the .ZIP file) After you have edited the .CFG and .TXT files you will need to tell PCBoard how to access your new "teaser ads". We have designed ONELINER.PPE to be used as you "BBS Command Prompt". For that reason, you need to hook it into PCBTEXT at #396. Using MKPCBTXT (from Clark Development), edit your PCBTEXT file. Use "F3" to jump to Record # 396. There, type in a line that tells PCBoard to execute the PPE. Our line at The Windmill BBS is: !C:\PCB\PPES\ONELINER\ONELINER.PPE Hit to Save & Quit the PCBTEXT Editor. Then load up your BBS and try it out. REGISTRATION: This PPE is "FreeWare". It requires NO REGISTRATION. Try our ADBOARD.PPE, also. ADBOARD works in conjunction with ONELINER to give you system a full featured advertising and announcement system. CONTACT: You can contact the author in several ways. Support system is The Windmill BBS at (708) 232-1015 or send mail via Salt Air BBS.
