****************************************************************************** * * * Conference Request .PPE * * For PCB 15.0 * * By Sam Evans * * * ****************************************************************************** What this program does: This program was written because my users KEPT asking me to get these conferences for them, and I could never remember. So, the purpose of this .PPE file is to allow your users to view a Conference Listing, and then make a selection from the list on which conferences they want. Currently there is support for only 2 Networks. I will be upgrading this in the future (depending on the demand). Installation: 1. Copy the .PPE File into your PPE Directory. On my system, I have placed the PPE in a directory called: C:\PCB\PPE\REQUEST 2. Go into the PCBSETUP program, and in the CMD.LST file, add the Command: REQUEST. Give it 0 Security (or whatever Security you want), and leave the rest of the options alone. 3. Go into the Directory in which you have placed the REQUEST.PPE file, and edit the REQUEST.CNF File. This is the Configuration file, and must be done correctly, or else it will not work. (Funny how that might be :)) Configuration File: Line 1: Sysops Name Line 2: Your BBS's Name Line 3: The First Network's Name Line 4: The Second Network's Name Line 5: Path/Filename for the First Networks Conference Listing Line 6: Path/Filename for the Second Networks Conference Listing Line 7: Path/Filename for the Introduction Screen for the Request.PPE File Line 8: Path/Filename of the Request File Descriptions: Line 1: Enter your Name here. This will be displayed in the Request File. Line 2: Enter your BBS's Name here. This will be displayed in the Request File. Line 3: Enter the Network Name here. This will be Option Number 1 on The Menu. On my System, I have put FIDONET in this section. Line 4: Enter the Second Networks Name here. This will be option Number 2 on the menu. If you only have 1 Network, enter in NONE here. Line 5: Enter the path for the First Networks Conference Listing file. For Fidonet they send out a .TXT file called FIDONET.NA. On my system I have put the path in: C:\PCB\GEN\BLT9 (This is the file that is displayed to the user after they select which network they want). Line 6: Same as Line 5, except this is for the Second Network Line 7: Enter in the path/filename of the Request menu. I have installed an optional file that if you use it, you may create a file for your Network selections. This will be displayed to the user instead of the menu that I have hard coded. Line 8: Enter the path/filename of the Request file. This is the file that is generated after the user selects the conferences he wants you to carry. It is a plain Text file that is generated. On my System I have created a Directory called: REQUEST, and for the Filename, I named it REQUEST.TXT. (i.e. C:\REQUEST\REQUEST.TXT) Disclaimer: In no way am I responsible for any harm that this program may cause on your system. It is provided AS IS. If your system catches on fire by using this program, call the Fire department first, then the Power Company, but not me.
