Any-Password v1.0 Written by Drew [PWA] Last updated 8-7-94 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- QUICK INTRO ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is your basic ppe for a New User Password option for your board. It's actually written so that you can use this for **any** sort of password option that you want to, not just a new user password. I know this has been done MANY MANY times before, but here are a couple of extra "features" not found in other NUP ppe's: 1. Auto-timeout - If users do not enter the correct password within a a specified amount of time, the ppe will automatically drop carrier. Good for those morons who like to hack or just waste time. 2. Source code included! I do not see what the big deal is for not distributing source for such a simple ppe. This is one of those ppe's that don't take much time to write, yet I have seen people release it as if it was there pride and joy creation in programming. Big whoop dee doo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can install this practically any where you want. For a new user password, a typical place might be right after the user enter's their name and PCBoard reports that it is not found in the user's file. Try prompts #208, #150, or #54 of PCBTEXT.) You can stick this inside of the NEWUSER somewhere, which is displayed when a new user logs on. For other passwords, I leave it up to your imagination. :) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONFIGURATION ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just edit the config file. There are just 10 options in there, and it is relatively simple and well-documented within it. This PPE comes with source code, so you can modify that anyhow you wish. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Do not distribute modified versions of this source without the original included. It's a bad thing to do and your conscience will make you feel guilty (unless you have no conscience.. but in that case, you are a shoddy programmer and will know deep, deep down inside of you that you didn't write this).
