October 1997 rating ... -------*-- [8/9] ®detailed program information¯ These small, simple programs will allow you, the sysop, to go to dos and flag files from there. This works like this: you multitask (I do hope you _can_ multitask! :) and enter a dos shell. Then you flag the files the online-user wants, using flag.exe. The files you want to flag are then put into a list. Then you go back to the user online, and run the ppe, that actually flags the files in the list. How many times have you shelled to dos, found a file, and forgot the filename when you get back to flag the damn thing? Well, those days are gone with these cool utilities! Here are the options you have with the exe: "FLAG -V" : views the list of files you have flagged "FLAG -D" : brings up the delete menu, where you can delete specified lines, the whole file or a range of lines (eg. 1-5) just type "FLAG" or "FLAG -H" for more information. There are some options on the ppe too: "FLAG /ENTER" : forces an enter-press after the execution of the ppe. this is because you won't see the prompt when you exit otherwise. it might be stupid to press enter when the user has written something at the prompt, so that's why I made it optional "FLAG /ESC" : forces an escape-press before the ppe is started. this is to clear the prompt "FLAG /QUIET" : makes the ppe skip printing anything to screen "FLAG /STRIP" : cuts away some of the path that's printed (if /QUIET isn't selected), so all that's left is the filename itself. useful to prevent hackers and such lamers from knowing where you keep stuff. You can use all these switches a the same time (although there's no point in using /STRIP and /QUIET at the same for instance), and you can place them in whatever order you want. The ppe checks all four switches. The ppe is intended used as a function key, so I had to make sure the user hadn't written anything in the prompt as the ppe is executed. Choz also told me that displaying the directory the flagged files are in might not be such a good idea, since some idiot might want to hack you and mess with the files, which is much easier if you know the directory to enter... So I added a switch to remove the directory at the last minute, leaving only the filename as you flag... Mess around a bit with these options to find out what's best for your system! ®installation¯ If you are even remotely smart, you copy flag.exe to a directory in your path, so you can run it whereever you are on the harddisk. When you have done so, it's time to install the ppe. I would recommend that you install it as "function key". Enter pcbsetup, press G, then H. Find an available line and type in the path to the ppe like this: !flag.ppe. Then you just run the program: FLAG whatever.fls, get back to the user online and press the key-combination you have set the ppe to. You can use wildcards in the exe... ®files in archieve/needed¯ flag.exe ........ main program - makes a list of files to be flagged flag.ppe ........ ppe that does the actual flagging in pcb flag.doc ........ could it in fact be *this* file!?! file_id.diz ..... description of archive If one of these files are missing, get a new archive from a pr site! ®how to reach the author(s)¯ SleepWalker E-mail: slwalker@applausenett.no BBSes: Minas Tirith (+47 61190590), Slam City, Optical Illusion ICQ: 2301492 Choz E-Mail: choz@fix.no BBSes: Minas Tirith, etc. PR homepage: pr.home.ml.org ®greetings¯ flux been awfully quiet the last month, hasn't it? :) sect nice to see you back in business! speed freak the pimp above all pimps! virago love yar ppl pages, mate! .. written by SleepWalker.pr ..
