The following is a description of and the documentation for the programs contained in survey.bin proj - Open, Create or Delete a project file. pont - Create a point (Northing and Easting) psort - Sort the data directory. plst - List points by project prefix, numeric suffix, both or all points. pedt - Edit the Northing and/or Easting of a saved point. pdel - Delete a saved point. brds - Compute bearing and distance between two saved points. trvs - Compute coordinates of an open or closed traverse, closure and adjust. If the closed traverse option is chosen, the program computes the area and graphs the adjusted traverse. area - Computes area enclosed by saved coordinates in ft^2 and acres and graphs the figure. sshot - Computes and saves the coordinate of a point at a known distance and angle from two saved points. isct - Computes and saves the coordinate of the point(s) at the intersection of two elements (either a line, circle or distance). defla - Computes deflection angles and chords of a circular curve. az/->br - Converts azimuth to bearing. br/->az - Converts bearing to azimuth. r/->dc - Converts radius to degree of curvature. dc/->r - Converts degree of curvature to radius. angl - Computes angle to the right, foresight distance and backsight distance from three saved points. aaaaaa - Angle to the right, saved from the angl program. dddddd - Foresight distance, saved from the angl program. Instructions: The programs are saved in binary format. You must set your HP48 to receive in binary mode. Use the RECN command to receive the survey.bin programs under the name 'survey' (lowercase letters important!) Executing BYTES on 'survey' gives #16868d 21176.5 bytes Before running the programs make sure that you set flags -3 (numeric evaluation) -55 (last args not saved) -60 (alpha lock with one press of the alpha key) To execute a program press the menu button below the screen label. All programs, except Dc/->R and R/->Dc, prompt for data. Dc/->R and R/->Dc take arguments from the stack (Dc=degree of curvature R=radius). All stored point prefixes must be in capital letters (all program variables are in lowercase letters). If you enter a point name for a point that is not saved, the program will ask if you want to create the point and then continue the program. You do not have to leave the program to enter points. Press ATTN twice to exit the pont and pedt programs (once to remove prefix, twice to terminate the program). Use the up or down arrow keys to move between the Northing and Easting data fields in the pont and pedt programs. Press left arrow key to see the graphed figure created in the area and trav (closed traverse option) programs. Letters in (_) are to be entered at the prompt to execute the option. When prompted for a bearing quadrant note that the choices given are the four numbers at the corners of the numeric keypad (i.e., 9=NE, 7=NW). To get an ascii ordered list of points you must run the psort program, otherwise points are listed in the order they appear in the data directory. DISCLAIMER : I have not worked out all of the bugs in the programs. I can't guarantee the programs give correct answers. I have used most of the programs at work and at school and they have worked well for me. If you have ANY questions, suggestions or comments about my programs please e-mail me at ___________________________________________________________________________ Dan Coyle Georgia Institute of Technology Civil Eng. co-op Federal Highway Administration gt7530a@prism.gatech.edu January-March, July-August dcoyle@gmuvax.gmu.edu April-June, September-December ___________________________________________________________________________ or send mail to Dan Coyle P.O.
