This installation guide describes how to: o Use EZStart to copy the DEC PATHWORKS version 4.1 for DOS NDIS driver files from the SuperDisk to your PC. o Prepare your operating system so you can attach to the network. Note: This driver supports all 8216 (Ultra), 80xx (Elite), 80xx (PLUS), and 8416 (EtherEZ) Series ISA, EISA, and Micro Channel Ethernet adapters. COPYING THE DRIVER FILES From the Driver Installation screen, select 'Copy Files' to copy all the files used by this driver from the SuperDisk to the Destination Directory recommended by EZStart, or to a different directory that you specify. PREPARING YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM 1. Insert the DEC Pathworks Client Setup diskette #1 into your computer's disk drive. 2. Type: NETSETUP 3. Press the Enter key. 4. When prompted about whether you have an LK250 keyboard, specify 'N(o)' if you do not have this type of keyboard. 5. Select the DECNET option and press Enter. 6. Insert the DNET TRNSPRT 1 diskette into your computer's disk drive. 7. Specify the destination drive letter. 8. When the prompt 'Are you creating an initial workstation diskette' appears, select N(o). 9. Type the node name and address. 10. Press Enter. 11. Type the server node name and number. 12. When prompted to add LK250 keyboard setup to AUTOEXEC.BAT file, select N(o). 13. Select 'Ethernet' and press Enter. 14. Select 'LAN Manager-Supplied NDIS'. 15. Press the Enter key twice. 16. Select 'Western Digital EtherCard - WD8003E' option and press Enter. 17. Press F9 to write the key disk. Then press Enter. 18. Press Enter to accept the default PROTOCOL.INI. 19. Follow the screen prompts. 20. After the Write Key Disk procedure is done, press F10 from the Configuration screen to exit to DOS. 21. Locate PROTOCOL.INI file in the directory where EZStart copied the driver (default is C:\DECNET). Then rename this file to PROTOCOL.DEC. Then rename the DEC41DOS.INI (located in the same subdirectory as the file you just renamed) to PROTOCOL.INI. 22. Using any text editor, edit the CONFIG.SYS file by replacing the line: device=\DECNET\MACWD.DOS with this line: device=\DECNET\SMC8000.DOS 23. Make sure the ni_irq value in the [DATALINK] section matches the irq value of the network adapter specified in the PROTOCOL.INI file.
