Installation for Netware Versions Below 3.11 using IPX --------------------------------------------------------- a. Using the correct shell Generation program (shgen, wsgen) Select the NE2000 option 2. Installation for All Netware Versions supporting ODI ------------------------------------------------------- 1. Things You Need --------------- Before you start the installation process make sure you have the following: a) Hardware Driver Disk b) Novell DOS ODI WORKSTATION SERVICES diskette. The following drivers must be loaded in the exact order LSL - Found on the Novell DOS ODI WORKSTATION SERVICES diskette NWMLID - Found on the NIC-2002 Driver Disk IPXODI - Found on the Novell DOS ODI WORKSTATION SERVICES diskette NETX - Found on the Novell DOS ODI WORKSTATION SERVICES diskette If the NIC driver, NWMLID executed successfully, it will inform you of the adapter mode and related configurations. Otherwise you will see error messages telling you the reason the driver did not load. Note: The ODI driver will always parse your NET.CFG file first. If the related adapter's configuration parameters are found, they will be defaulted to IRQ 3 BASE 300 even though they conflict with parameters stored in the EEPROM of adapter, thus it will fail to initialize the adapter. Below is a sample NET.CFG file: LINK DRIVER NWMLID INT 5 PORT 320 : : You can refer to the Netware Manuals for more information about NET.CFG Novell has changed the Ethernet default frame type to 802.2 starting with the release of NetWare v4.0. The move has been made to enable it to better support future protocols and networking features. Some of these features are: IPX with checksum, security enhancements, and protocol independence. Following this change, the default frame type of the DOS ODI driver is Ethernet 802.2 when there is no protocol binding in NET.CFG file. With this situation, if your server is not NetWare v4.0, please make sure the Ethernet 802.2 frame type has been bound before logging in to it. 3. Novell NetWare V4.0x Server Driver Installation -------------------------------------------------- Things you Need --------------- Make sure you have the following: 1. Driver Diskette 2. Novell DOS ODI Workstation Services Diskette Installation Procedure ---------------------- 1. Insert the Driver Diskette into drive A: and check the contents of the subdirectory \NETWARE\ODI\4.00. Next time you reboot your NetWare 4.0x server, do so by following steps 2 to 4 above. Notes about the Novell v4.0x and the v3.1x drivers -------------------------------------------------- 1. The NetWare v4.0x and v3.11 drivers have different architectures. When using NetWare v4.x, you should load the MSM.NLM and ETHERTSM.NLM modules before loading server driver ACC40.LAN. 2. ACC40.LAN is your server driver for NetWare v4.0. When loading ACC40.LAN, it will check whether or not these two modules (MSM.NLM and ETHERTSM.NLM) have been loaded. If not, it will load them automatically. 3. After the ACC40.LAN is loaded, type the "MODULES" command to view and confirm that the additional modules, MSM.NLM and ETHERTSM.NLM loaded. 4. The default frame type for ACC40.LAN binding in NetWare v4.0x is Ethernet_802.2 and not Ethernet_802.3.
