DEC 1994 NetBIOS Emulator Installation for D-Link PCMCIA Ethernet Caed ================================= The D-Link NetBIOS Emulator is a standardized network interface program that allows this Adapter to run NetBIOS-based network operating systems like the IBM PC LAN Program and others. No software modification or additional installation is necessary. All operations as well as installation procedures for the network operating system will remain unaltered. The following files will be used in this installation: Files Contents ----------- ------------------------------------ DE-65N.EXE DE-650 Driver program. NBIOS.EXE NetBIOS Emulator Program. Note: Before install NetBIOS driver, run PCMCIA initial program on A:\IBMPC\INSTALL directory. Please see as following: *** PC installed Socket and Card services *** Skip this step OR *** PC installed Socket service or Databook Cardtalk*** *** PC's PCMCIA controller is Intel 82365SL *** *** PC is Toshiba T3300SL *** DCD16.EXE [/iop:P0] [/irq:P1] [/slt:P2] Please refer to \IBMPC\INSTALL\README.DOC for detail information. 2. Parameters for INSTALL utility: DCD16.EXE DCD16.EXE is an integration verrsion of open adapter utility. DCD16.EXE supports Intel 82365SL, Toshiba T3300SL's ICCNT, and Socket Services v1.01, v2.0, v2.01, v2.10 Card Services v2.0, v2.01, v2.10. For more detail information, please refer to \IBMPC\INSTALL\README.DOC. Example: device=DCD16.EXE [/iop:P0] [/irq:P1] [/slt:P2] Parameter description: /iop :I/O base /irq :IRQ value /slt :Slot number P0 :The selectable window I/O base with 0x20 range. The default value is 0x300. P1 :The selectable irq value. The default value is 0x5. P3 :The selectable slot number. The default value is 0. You must set 0 when you use slot 1. Set slt:1 when slot 2 is used,etc. To install the NetBIOS Emulator, do as follows: 1. Load in the driver program DE-65N.EXE. >DE-65N 2. Load in the NetBIOS Emulator program NBIOS.EXE. This program is memory-resident and will stay in your computer's memory until its power is turned off or until you re-boot. >NBIOS [/Sm] [/Ck] Typing the parameter after NBIOS is optional. The parameter is used as follows: /Sm Specifies the maximum number of sessions allowed on your computer, where m can be a value from 1 to 254. If this parameter is not specified, the default number of sessions will be set to 32. /Ck Specifies the maximum number of NetBIOS command available for your computer where k can be a value from 1 to 255. If this parameter is not specified, the default number of NetBIOS commands will be set to 32. Your computer now is ready to run a NetBIOS-based network operating system.
