Virtually all Seagate IDE, SCSI, SCSI-1, SCSI-2, Fast SCSI-2 and ST506/412 (MFM/RLL) drives will now be automatically recognized and tested by Disk Technician Factory Test For Seagate Drives version 1.22. This will greatly enhance the value of Factory Test in eliminating No Problem Found (NPF) drives in the field. Please refer to Appendix A in the file MANUAL.DOC (included in the Factory Test software files) for a complete listing of eligible drives, plus the matching controller or adapter recommended for testing each drive. 2.0 Defective Media Locations Now Automatically Marked Bad. Many Factory Test users requested that we add the ability to automatically mark-out any media defects detected by Factory Test's "Quick Test" and/or "Media Certification." Version 1.22 adds this important feature. Once testing has finished, any media defect locations identified by Factory Test (as shown in the "Quick Test Report" and/or "Media Defect Report") can be automatically marked "bad" and removed from service. To do this, simply high-level format the drive under the desired operating system (DOS, UNIX, Macintosh, etc.). 3.0 User's Guide Now On Diskette -- How To Print A Copy. In order to put changes into effect more rapidly, the User's Guide is now contained in a file called MANUAL.DOC and is included on the Factory Test diskette. To print a copy of the User's Guide, type the following from the system prompt: COPY A:\MANUAL.DOC PRN and then press the Enter key (be sure the printer is on and connected). *******************************END*******************************
