DOS DRIVER USAGE ---------------- If your system's BIOS supports only 1 IDE channel (Primary), use CMD640X.SYS. If your system's BIOS supports 2 IDE channels (Primary and Secondary), use CMD640X2.SYS. Please use the driver from the appropriate directory as listed below: Drivers for PCI systems using Configuration Mechanism #1. Most PCI chipsets (e.g. Intel Aries and Neptune, IMS, VLSI, OPTI, UMC, etc.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- DOS\MECH1\CMD640X.SYS - BIOS w/ 1 IDE channel support (2-drives) DOS\MECH1\CMD640X2.SYS - BIOS w/ 2 IDE channel support (4-drives) Drivers for PCI systems using Configuration Mechanism #2 Older PCI chipsets (e.g. Intel Saturn and Mercury). -------------------------------------------------------- DOS\MECH2\CMD640X.SYS - BIOS w/ 1 IDE channel support (2-drives) DOS\MECH2\CMD640X2.SYS - BIOS w/ 2 IDE channel support (4-drives) Drivers for VL-Bus systems -------------------------- DOS\CMD640X.SYS - BIOS w/ 1 IDE channel support (2-drives) DOS\CMD640X2.SYS - BIOS w/ 2 IDE channel support (4-drives) NOTE: EZNSTALL will automatically figure out which kind of hardware you are running on, and select the proper driver. However, EZNSTALL is not aware of the CMD640X2.SYS drivers. Therefore, if your system has 2 IDE channel support in BIOS, you must edit INSTALL.INI and replace CMD640X.SYS with CMD640X2.SYS in the [Dos Driver] section.
