Photo-CD is supported on drives as noted in section 2. 2) Table of supported CD-ROM drives on 8 and 16 bit adapters: MANUFACTURE MODEL NUMBERS ----------- ---------------------------------- Chinon CDX-435 CDS-435, CDC-435 Hitachi CDR-1750S, CDR-3650, CDR-3750 IBM CDROM I, CDROM II LMSI CM-214 NEC CDR-25, CDR-72, CDR-73, CDR-74, CDR-83, CDR-84 (M-series are also supported) Panasonic CR-301, CR-501, CR-532 Pioneer DRM-600 Sony CDU-541, CDU-561, CDU-6110, CDU-6111, CDU-6211, CDU-7211 Texel DM-3024, DM-5024 Toshiba XME-3201B, XME-3301TA, XME-3401B 3) Table of Drives supporting Photo-CD: MANUFACTURE MODEL NUMBERS SINGLE/MULTI-SESSION ----------- ------------- -------------------- NEC CDR-25 Single-session CDR-84 Single-session Panasonic CR-532 Single-session Sony CDU-541 Single-session CDU-561 Single/Multi-session Texel DM-3024/5024 Single/*Multi-session Toshiba XME-3301TA Single/*Multi-session XME-3401B Single/Multi-session (*) The asterisk specifies that the drive may require a a Firmware and/or Hardware update for the specified Photo-CD support. Contact the Manufacture of the CD-ROM drive to verify the drives Firmware revision if any problems occur. II. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: - Minimum 512KB of System Memory needed by INSTALL program. (This amount of memory is required by the automatic installation program - INSTALL.EXE. Refer to "Manual Installation" in the CD-ROM device driver Installation Manual Guide, if you cannot run the automatic installation program.) - MS or PC DOS Version 3.x - 5.0x. - MS DOS Extensions Version 2.20/2.21 (may be included) - A Hard Disk Drive. (Optional) (Not necessary for device driver or host adapter but may be necessary for some CD-ROM application programs.) III. CHANGES FROM PREVIOUS RELEASE: 1) The following drive support has been added to this version of the CD-ROM device driver: MANUFACTURE MODEL NUMBERS ----------- ---------------------------------- Chinon CDS-435, CDC-435 Panasonic CR-301, CR-532 Sony CDU-561 Texel DM-3024, DM-5024 Toshiba XM-3401B IV. INSTALL/TECH TIPS (READ BEFORE INSTALLATION): 1) IMPORTANT - If the CD-ROM device(s) is attached to a Future Domain SCSI adapter which contains a BIOS Version 3.00 or 8.00, you must take one of the following actions: a) Upgrade the BIOS. b) Load the DOS CAM loadable driver. (DCAM950.EXE or DCAM1800.EXE) c) Use the '/T' command line parameter to force the CD-ROM device driver to talk directly to the SCSI adapter. usage: DEVICE=C:\DEV\FDCD.SYS /D:MSCD000 /T NOTE: The '/T' parameter must only be used with SCSI adapters that contain the 3.00 or 8.00 BIOS. Also, please do not configure your drives at SCSI IDs 6 or 7. 2) Command line parameter '/I' (controls Disk Change status) If this switch is not specified, the driver will not return an "Invalid Disc Change" error if the SAME disc is reinserted into the drive. This may cause a problem if two different disc's having the same volume size are being used. If you are experiencing this problem, specifying the /I switch will force the driver to always return an "Invalid Disc Change" error anytime a disc is changed. (SAME or DIFFERENT disc) usage: DEVICE=C:\DEV\FDCD.SYS /D:MSCD000 /I 3) LASTDRIVE = Z in the CONFIG.SYS file. The install program will default to using drive letter 'Z'. This drive letter should be changed so that DOS does not reserve more drive letters than are necessary. example: If you have one fixed drive with two partitions using drive letter C & D and one CD-ROM drive using drive letter E, set LASTDRIVE to E (LASTDRIVE = E). This is very important for Network users so that drive letters will be available to access Network drives as in a Novell environment. 4) You can remove the BIOS chip on the Future Domain SCSI controller if there are no fixed drives attached. This will allow the system to boot-up much more quickly since the SCSI bus will not be scanned by the BIOS upon boot-up. 5) For compatibility with the Future Domain FDDEVICE.SYS device driver, load the FDDEVICE.SYS driver before loading FDCD.SYS in the CONFIG.SYS file.
