In rare cases after installing the software, Windows 95 does not recognize that the software is installed. If this happens just check the box that says "Do not install a driver(Windows will not prompt you again)". Document does not print correctly with PCL Driver ------------------------------------------------- Several things can cause a document to not print correctly; not enough memory in the printer to handle the document being printed, incorrect behavior by applications, Windows or printer drivers, or incorrect settings in the printer drivers. If using the HP LaserJet 6L (PCL) printer driver, try printing in either HP-GL/2 or Raster modes or changing resolutions from 600 to 300. These modes can be selected in the printer setup dialog under the Print Quality sheet. If you continually receive Printer not Found messages or Pages never start to print ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WARNING: Only use this workaround if you are NOT using any other devices on the same parallel port (such as: Zip drive and Tape backups) as the HP LaserJet 6L. In your C;\windows\system directory delete the file hpwemon.386. Then, copy the file emonport.csc (on Disk 3 of your HP LaserJet 6l software) to c:\windows\system and rename it hpwemon.386. Now reboot you computer. This workaround should not only fix printer not found problems with some parallel ports, but will also increase the speed of printing in most cases. Correcting printing problem with the additional printer driver -------------------------------------------------------------- You receive two drivers for the HP LaserJet 6L printer. The installation program installs the Host Based driver if your PC meets the minimum requirement of the Host Based Driver, otherwise the PCL driver is installed. If you have any problems when using the "Typical" option of the installer with the Host Based Driver. You can install the PCL driver by using the CUSTOM installation option in the setup program. Device drivers that cause printing problems ------------------------------------------- The following device drivers are known to cause problems when printing. To correct the problem, search your system.ini file for any of the drivers below. To disable the driver place a semicolon (;) in front of the driver line and then restart windows. (i.e. ;DEVICE=vecpd.386) These drivers are known to cause problems: Cis1284.386 Lex01.386 Okiport.386 Sumovmi.386 Vcpd.386 Vecpd.386
