Execute this SETUP program to specify the proper driver for DE620 card. -If you are installing LAN Manager for the first time, do the following: Upon completion of retrieval of the last workstation's disk contents, you will be asked if you want to import additional network drivers. Answer "YES". -If you have already installed LAN Manager in your hardisk, do the following: Select the Configuration menu, and then select "Add New Config" option. Afterwards, choose the "Other Driver" option. 4) Insert the prepared diskette (DOS_DRV_DLK) in drive 'A' and follow the instructions on the screen. The SETUP program will copy the necessary NDIS driver programs from the DOS_DRV_DLK diskette to your hardisk (into the LAN Manager directory). 5) After completion of the SETUP, your CONFIG.SYS file will be modified and contain statements referring to the D-Link NDIS driver programs. Reboot your computer and follow the NDIS binding procedure to use the D-Link NDIS driver programs. ******************************************************* * How to install DE620.DOS on WIN/TCP PathWay Access * ******************************************************* 1) Copy DE620.DOS to directory C:\LANMAN. 2) Go to the directory C:\LANMAN, and create a text file called PROTOCOL.INI: [DE620] drivername = DE620$ 3) Add the following statements to your CONFIG.SYS file: device=c:\lanman\DE620.DOS 4) Add the following statements to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file: ndis -d:1 winbind wintcp **************************************************** * How to install DE620.DOS on DECnet PathWork v4.0 * **************************************************** You can use the DECnet PathWork's NETSET.EXE program to install D-Link NDIS driver program. Please refer to DECnet installation manual for detailed information. The following instructions assume that you have already installed the DECnet PathWork with 3Com's Etherlink II card. 1) Modify your CONFIG.SYS file as follows: device = c:\decnet\ELNKII.SYS to device = c:\decnet\DE620.DOS 2) Modify the PROTOCOL.INI file as follows: from: --------------------------------- [ELNKMACII] drivername = ELNKII$ ;ioaddress = 0x300 ;interrupt = 3 xmitbufs = 2 [IPX4MAC] : bindings = ELNKMACII : [DATALINK] : bindings = ELNKMACII : to: ----------------------------------- [DE620] drivername = DE620$ [IPX4MAC] : bindings = DE620 : [DATALINK] : bindings = DE620 : ******************************************** * How to install DE620.DOS on 3Com 3+ Open * ******************************************** Supposing that you have installed the 3Com 3+ Open with 3Com's 3C501 card: 1) Copy DE620.DOS to C:\3OPEN\DOSWKSTA\LANMAN\DRIVERS. 2) Modify the device driver statement for 3C501 card in your CONFIG.SYS to: device = c:\3open\doswksta\lanman\drivers\DE620.DOS 3) Modify the PROTOCOL.INI file to: [ETHERLINK] : drivername = DE620$ : ***************************************************** * How to install DE620.DOS on Banyan VINES v4.00(2) * ***************************************************** NOTE : To install D-Link NDIS driver program, you need BANYAN VINES v4.00(2) or above. 1. Create a bootable diskette (booted with DOS 3.1 or above) which will be used as boot diskette of Banyan VINES workstation or create a sub-directory on your hard disk. There are two methods to copy the required files for Banyan VINES workstation to the bootable diskette or sub-directory of hard disk. Method 1. 1) Execute 'INSTALL' command which was saved in the diskette labeled "VINES MASTER DISK". 2) Follow the instructions to copy the files to the bootable diskette or sub-directory of hard disk. Method 2. 1) Execute 'BAN' command. 2) Login VINES system. 3) Execute 'PCCOPY' command. 4) Select 'NDIS Ethernet' item and follow instructions as menu driven for copying the files to the bootable diskette or sub-directory of hard disk. 2. Insert the DE-620 driver program diskette in drive 'A' and insert the prepared bootable diskette in drive 'B'. Afterwards, copy the appropriate NDIS driver files DE620.DOS from drive 'A' to 'B' or sub-directory of hard disk. 3. Create a CONFIG.SYS file which contains the following statements: DEVICE=PROTMAN.DOS /I:A:\ DEVICE=DE620.DOS NOTE:" A:\" is the path which may be changed dependeding on the location of the files for BANYAN VINES workstation. 4. Create a DE620.NIF file and include the following statements in this file: Model = D-Link DE-620 Ethernet Card Path = A:\ DeviceDriver = DE620.DOS DeviceName = DE620$ Type = NDIS NOTE:" A:\" is the path which may be changed dependeding on the location of the files for BANYAN VINES workstation. 5. Create a PROTOCOL.INI file as follows: [PROTOCOL MANAGER] drivername = PROTMAN$ [VINES_XIF] drivername = NDISBAN$ bindings = "DE620" [DE620] drivername = DE620$ 6. Execute 'PCCONFIG' command 1) The "CONFIGURING A PC FOR THE NETWORK" is displayed on the screen then select item '1 - Network Card Settings'. | The "Network Card Setting" is displayed on the screen then select item 'NDIS Ethernet'. | The "NDIS Ethernet" is displayed on the screen then set your choice for D-Link NIC Ex. Interrupt Level (2-15) : 7 PROTOCOL.INI bindings = DE620 | 2) Return to Screen "CONFIGURING A PC FOR THE NETWORK" then select item '2 - Login Environment Settings'. | The "Network Card Setting" is displayed on the screen then select item 'NDIS Ethernet'. | then 'PCCONFIG.DB' file will be generated. 7. Reboot your computer. 8. Login into VINES by executing the 'BAN' command. ************************************************************** * How to install DE620.DOS on IBM LAN Support Program v1.33 * ************************************************************** * Using DE620.NIF file: 1. Insert the LAN Support diskette into drive A: 2. Execute the install program. A> DXMAID [Enter] 3. One of the selection item is "Do you have adapter option diskettes?" [Yes] (You can press [Space] to switch no to yes.) 4. After the processing of copying LAN Support, input the drive and sub-directory of the "adapter option diskette". For example, A: \NDIS\IBMLAN.DOS (Then insert our DE-620 driver diskette into drive A., press [Enter].) 5. The installation procedure will finish after completing copying LAN Support. * Modify configuration files after you have already installed other NICs. Supposing that you have installed the IBM LAN Support Program in your computer, you can use DE620.DOS to replace the installed driver program. Follow the instructions below to change the contents of CONFIG.SYS and PROTOCOL.INI files. 1. Copy DE620.DOS to the directory where your IBM LAN Support program resides. 2. Modify the original NDIS device driver statement in CONFIG.SYS as follows: DEVICE = [driver]:\path\DE620.DOS 3. Modify the PROTOCOL.INI file as follows: BINDINGS = DE620 : : [DE620] DRIVERNAME = DE620$ *********************************************************** * How to install DE620.DOS on Windows for Workgroups v3.1 * *********************************************************** There are two methods for installing DE-620 using Windows for Workgroups v3.1 1. Install a compatible network adapter Using a compatible driver that is provided by Microsoft. The following table correlates the drivers that is provided by Microsoft to the various compatible D-Link adapters. Proceed to install Windows for Workgroups. If you already have an installed Windows for Workgroups, open the Control Panel Window to change the network settings. b. When Windows asks for the type of network adapter, select the appropriate network adapter following the table provided above. c. Input the corresponding settings such as IRQ and I/O port address. After checking all the settings, choose OK and restart Windows for Workgroups. 2. Manual editing of pre-selected configuration Involves manual editing of installed Windows for Workgroups configuration files using pre-selected NE2000 driver. Please refer to WFW1.DOC for detailed installation procedures. 3. Menu-driven installation Using a D-Link supplied OEMSETUP.INF file, the user can choose to install the appropriate D-Link adapters through a menu. Please refer to WFW2.DOC for detailed installation procedures. ******************************************************** * How to install DE-620.OS2 on IBM OS/2 2.0 Lan Server * ******************************************************** 1. Assuming your OS/2 2.0 is properly installed and working, proceed to install LAN SERVER. At this point in time, no D-Link network adapters must be installed in the computer. 2. Install LAN SERVER according to IBM installation procedures. At the point where LAN SERVER asks for LAN Adapter, select any of the adapters supported by LAN SERVER. For example, we select 'Western Digital EtherCard PLUS ...'. After LAN Adapter selection, continue installing LAN SERVER. 3. After LAN SERVER is successfully installed, shut down OS/2 for system econfiguration. Do not insert any D-Link network adapters. The OS/2 system will boot up bringing up LAN SERVER services. You will encounter errors with LAN SERVER because the network adapter you selected is not installed. Ignore the errors and continue with OS/2 booting. 4. Assuming you are using D-Link DE-620 card, insert the DE-620 driver disk in drive A: and copy the following files, COPY A:\NDIS\OS2\DE620.OS2 C:\IBMCOM\MACS COPY A:\NDIS\OS2\DE620.NIF C:\IBMCOM\MACS At the OS/2 Desktop, run OS/2 system editor. You have to edit two files namely, C:\CONFIG.SYS C:\IBMCOM\PROTOCOL.INI Editing CONFIG.SYS ------------------ (1) Look for the following line DEVICE=C:\IBMCOM\MACS\MACWD.OS2 and change it to, DEVICE=C:\IBMCOM\MACS\DE620.OS2 Editing PROTOCOL.INI -------------------- (1) In the section [IBMLXCFG], add the following line DE620_nif = DE620.nif (2) In the section [NETBEUI_nif], look for the line Bindings = MACWDMC_nif and change it to, Bindings = DE620_nif (3) In the MAC SECTION definitions, add the following section [DE620_nif] DriverName = DE620$ 5. After modifying the two files above, shutdown your OS/2 system and turn the computer off. Install the D-Link DE-620 card using the same INTERRUPT and IOADDRESS specified in the PROTOCOL.INI file. Turn on your computer to start OS/2. Upon OS/2 startup, you should notice that LAN SERVER services will now successfully start without any errors. ************************************************** * How to install DE620.OS2 on IBM LAN SERVER 3.0 * ************************************************* 1. Prepare an empty disk and insert it into drive 'A'. Afterwards, insert the D-Link Drive disk in drive 'B' and do the following: For an OS2 machine, you need to use the OS2 NDIS driver. > copy B:\NDIS\IBMLAN.OS2\DE620.OS2 A:\ > copy B:\NDIS\IBMLAN.OS2\DE620IBM.NIF A:\DE620.NIF OR, for a DOS machine, you need to use the DOS NDIS driver. > copy B:\NDIS\IBMLAN.OS2\DE620.DOS A:\ > copy B:\NDIS\IBMLAN.OS2\DE620IBM.NIF A:\DE620.NIF ** The DE620IBM.NIF file must be renamed to DE620.NIF 2. You must first install IBM OS/2 in your system: Bootup with OS/2 Install Disk in drive 'A' and install OS/2 You must install the LAPs program before installing the LAN Server or Requester program. Insert the "NTS/2 Adapter & Protocol Support Disk" in drive B and run the LAPs program: >LAPS --choose "Install" and specify the target drive choose "Install" again and insert your prepared Driver disk in drive 'A' choose "Configure" click "D-Link DE-620 Ethernet Card" --> Add click "IBM OS/2 NETBIOS" --> Add click "IEEE 802.2" --> Add click OK --> Exit --> Continue Reboot your computer Your CONFIG.SYS and PROTOCOL.INI files should reflect your card setup: \CONFIG.SYS =========== : Device=d:\IBMCOM\MACS\DE620.DOS or DE620.OS2 : \IBMCOM\PROTOCOL.INI ==================== : [DE620_NIF] Drivername = de620$ 3. You can now install the LAN Server or Requester program. For more instruction, please refer to your IBM LAN Server "Planning and Installation" manual. *************************************************************** * How to install DE620.OS2 on IBM Communication Manager v 1.0 * *************************************************************** Supposing that you have installed the IBM Communication Manager in your computer. 1. Copy both DE620.OS2 and DE620.NIF from the \NDIS\OS2 subdirectory of the shipping driver diskette to C:\IBMCOM\MACS directory. 2. Execute CM's install program, select D-Link DE-620 adapter and select protocols. 3. Make sure "DEVICE = C:\IBMCOM\MACS\DE620.OS2" statement is in the CONFIG.SYS file. 4.
