If the file is corrupted (it > has only 78 K) could someone be so kind to upload a non-corrupted > version? > Like, you, I found GUS0033.ZIP corrupted. Surprised to see a corruption problem even AFTER it had been "checked" and moved from the "submit" directory, I grabbed copies of GUS0033.ZIP from three (3) other places only to find them corrupted as well. I guess if you mirror junk, you get copies of junk. Anyhows, I downloaded GUS0033.ZIP directly from Gravis' board last weekend. The real file (read: UNcorrupted) is more than 300K. Lacking FTP access, though, I have no real means in directly uploading files to the Internet (I can only download using the mail-server). If no one else has done so and anyone is interested, I'd be happy to email a uuencoded copy to someone so they could in turn put it up on the net. I don't have my copy of GUS0033.ZIP with me right now, but could access it by this afternoon or tomorrow. -- Lance Hartmann (lance%hartmann.austin.ibm.com@ibmpa.awdpa.ibm.com) Yes, that IS a '%' (percent sign) in my network address. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- All statements, comments, opinions, etc. herein reflect those of the author and shall NOT be misconstrued as those of IBM or anyone else for that matter. ------------------------------ Date: 23 Jul 93 10:22 -0700 From: Thomas Wong Subject: GUS: GUS0033.ZIP re-uploaded Message-ID: <3939*twong@civil.ubc.ca> The file GUS0033.ZIP has been re-uploaded to epas and wuarchive under the directory .../gravis/patch. Not anything radically easier. The only hints I'd have are: Use noisemaster instead of fileplay and trim the thing at the first stage into more or less what you want that way. I never use patch, I only make simple patches ( not wavetable ), so this makes a lot of sense to me. Write a little visual basic program/ get a multiple program launder/ write a windows macro that starts up all the junk you need to do this eg: write or notepad on the ultrasnd.ini noisemaster or some other windows sampling program wav2pat Use a temporary patch name for testing, eg assign one of the ultrasnd.ini numbers to a 'temporary' patch. I *think* this gets around rebooting between tries at testing the patches, but I dont remember. Like I say, I only make very simple patches and bung them straight into my vandalised not general at all midi map. > > Thanks in advance & best regards, > > > Marcel. > -- > > -------------------------------------------------------------------- > Marcel M. Schoffelmeer Internet : marcel@tophat.cdh.cdc.com In a few months patch making might get a bit easier, with moves afoot from gravis to implement some kind of bank switching and also the great Mr. Dion's patchgod program becoming available. I'll copy this to the ultrasound list. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Jul 93 08:09:26 -0400 From: stewartj@engg.dnet.dupont.com Subject: Power Chords/Recording Session Message-ID: <9307231209.AA05971@esds01.es.dupont.com> Hey all... I just received my gravis upgrade disks in the mail and installed them. I installed them expecting to find all the programs everyone has been talking about... namely... PowerChords and Recording Session. I received five disk and have installed them twice. I gues they didn't include the programs? Any help is appreciated. =) Thanks, Todd ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Jul 93 16:39 GMT From: EXT0012@VAX2.QUEENS-BELFAST.AC.UK Subject: Thanks guys...*NOT* Message-ID: <9307231539.AA12246@orca.es.com> Re: Yesterdays digest... Ooooh! Four digests in one! Great! Only 3 of them were identical and VERY long. I have but a small modem which is slow and files of 70K or more don't do the old 'phone bill much good. I gather they were sent automatically, but could someone put a catch in so that it doesn't happen TOO often? Thanks! PS. I've got OS/2 drivers for the GUS, but I haven't managed to get them decompressed yet! More soon... Channels 11-16 are reserved under the Multimedia specification for *base level* synthesizers. The multimedia specification for extended level synths, such as the GUS, requires melodic data on channels 1-9, and percussive data on channel 10. This could be why you find pieces of songs missing when played in Recording Session - the piece may need revoicing to be in compliance with the Multimedia specification. Most MIDI files done in the last year or so have been written to the Multimedia spec - some older ones may not. -Jim ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Jul 93 15:38:46 EDT From: Phat H Tran Subject: Re: Ultrasound Daily Digest V4 #51 Message-ID: <9307231938.AA21655@sciborg.uwaterloo.ca> > Date: Thu, 22 Jul 1993 11:13:20 CDT > From: monty@butler.cps.com (Montgomery Kosma) > Subject: gravis tech support? > Message-ID: <2c4ebca4.butler@butler.cps.com> > > can somebody tell me the proper email address for gravis tech support? > Everything I've tried has bounced. In the meantime, you can use VMAP to remap the volumes in MIDs to match the GUS' log response. I copyied over the 2.06L disk images and tried to install them last night. The install program could not recognize either disk 3 or disk 5 and I never got to either disk 4 or disk 6. However, Disks 1 and 2 worked fine so I believe that I am copying and unzipping them correctly. Did the images ever work? Have they gone corrupt while noone was looking? I also found that the latest SBOS disk (gus0033) is incomplete.
