Post the games that these drivers work/sound good with.. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Jun 1993 12:06:19 +0300 (EET DST) From: J Juhana Enqvist Subject: Day of the Tentacle with SBOS Message-ID: <199306190906.AA23820@kruuna.helsinki.fi> >Date: Fri, 18 Jun 1993 15:43:44 -0500 >From: "A. I had a little fight with that, it took me about an hour to find out a perfectly working configuration. What I noticed is that it refused to work with QEMM, so here' my config (the relevant parts of it). DOS = HIGH,UMB DEVICE = C:\SYS\UMB_DRVR.SYS /C=09 (subst with whatever chipset you have) DEVICEHIGH = C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS and then anything you like, such as disk cache, mous driver etc. And SBOS seemed to need -x2 and -o2 switches. With this configuration, it has never locked up and I've almost played it thru now. Great game! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Jun 1993 17:06:50 -0500 (CDT) From: Siu-fung Lee Subject: Hello... Message-ID: Just thought I'd say,"Howdy!" to all the folks out there in GUSLand. I just got my Ultrasound, and have been play and testing for the last few days. As of yesterday, I have read thru everything available on the FTP sites. Didn't know Ultrasound is so popular already! Ah, well I have read through the FAQ, but I still have a couple of nagging questions hopefully someone can help me with (it's hard to be patient with a new toy!... ah music studio :) ). 1) How can I check the amount of mem on my GUS? I've installed some dram from my old add-on memory board (I think the dram is fast enough...) to the GUS. So now I should have 1 meg. I tried to use audio.exe and playdigi.exe (v 1.21), using the -a and then -g parms, but it doesn't seem keep my loaded test .snd files (200+ K) for more than one play. I don't know of any other ways to check. 2) This question concerns audio.exe and playdigi.exe (related to #1). Whenever I used -a and -g parms I also noticed that there is a "skip" in the music in the first second or so, altho the original doesn't have it (and doesn't show up when I just use playdigi without -a and -g). I followed the manual (a big help, haha! :> ), and used the memory parameters "properly" I think. I have tested my setup (IRQ, base address, etc.), made a plain boot disk using himem, ramdrive and mouse as my only TSR's. Ah, a third question... I sent my registration card (to the site in BC Canada, since I live in the little town of Winnipeg), and I read about having to send a proof of purchase or something or other? I hope not (please, please, please no)! Ack! ------------------------------ Date: 19 Jun 93 16:23:00 EST From: "Joseph R. Granto" Subject: MIDI file request Message-ID: For all those who have the new GUS disks: I deleted my favorite .mid file, and do not have the disks anymore. Nor do I want to go through the download from EPAS and install all over again routine. Could someone please email me the file HIDNSEEK.MID? I am unsure of the length, but my mail system can probably handle it. If not, please uuencode and break it down. Another option is to load this file to EPAS or WUARCHIVE. This file is not at either site; ARCHIE says it is available in Taiwan, but when I downloaded it I found that it is corrupted. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe Granto GLOCK@chip.cba.ufl.edu "When the going gets tough, the tough get a GLOCK!" --Guns & Ammo "Don't clock'em, GLOCK'em!" --Miami Dade police officer --------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Jun 1993 02:52:42 -0700 From: dross@ultrix4.csubak.edu (Dean Ross-Smith) Subject: xwing Message-ID: <9306190952.AA13013@ultrix4.csubak.edu> ok folks, here's an idea- for all those complaining about X-wing not working- check to see if your setup is recommended by Gravis- ie TAKE OUT STACKER! A couple of you guys have said that X-Wing doesn't work and then ramble on that your configuration contains stacker 3.0, which i thought Gravis said was a no-no. [Hey Gunnar Swanson- do you run stacker?] Anyway, Other things that might be tried are running your pc with out the disk cache and see if that makes a difference... l8r Dean Ross-Smith {dross@ultrix4.csubak.edu} ------------------------------ End of Ultrasound Daily Digest V4 #20 ************************************* To post to tomorrow's digest: To (un)subscribe or get help: To contact a human (last resort): FTP sites: archive.epas.utoronto.ca pub/pc/ultrasound wuarchive.wustl.edu systems/msdos/ultrasound Hints: - Get the FAQ from the FTP sites or the request server. - Mail to for info about other GUS related mailing lists (UNIX, OS/2, GUS-MIDI, etc.)
