This file includes the following topics: - General Information - Before Installing the Network Driver - Installation Instructions ============================================================ General Information ------------------- The following instructions assume you have not installed any other network adapter in the PC. If networking has already been installed, some of the instructions will not apply or appear accurate. Consult with your MIS department for further instructions. ============================================================ Before Installing the Network Driver ------------------------------------ Before installing the network driver, you should know the transport used in the Novell Network (typically IPX/SPX) and have access to the following software components: - Novell NetWare VLM Client disks for DOS and Windows - The LAN+Modem card Installation Disk 2. ============================================================ Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1. Boot the PC in DOS. If the PC starts up in Windows, exit Windows to return to the DOS prompt. 2. Place the Novell VLM client disk #1 in the floppy drive. Type: a:\install . This opens the NetWare client installation screen. 3. Use the down arrow key to move from line to line. Ensure that the information is correct. When you are asked to select the driver for your network card, press to see the list of supported adapters. At the bottom of the list, find and select Other Drivers. 4. When prompted for a driver disk, put Installation Disk 2 in your floppy drive and press . The LAN+Modem card should appear as the first item on the list. Select it and press . 5. Specify the frame type by pressing and choosing the appropriate type from the list. Press to select your choice. (You will not need to select an I/O Base. Use the default.) 6. Press F10 to return to the main installation screen. Position the cursor on line 6 and press . The installer prompts for several diskettes and notifies you when the installation is complete. 7. Press to exit the installation program and return to DOS. 8. Reboot the PC by hitting . When you go into Windows You will be able to LOGIN to the Novell Servers. The configuration manager (FMENABLE.EXE) must be added to the AUTOEXEC.BAT file or CONFIG.SYS file. Add the line: FMENABLE Specify a directory path if required.
