Configuration and Jumper Options

Device Electronics Board Jumpers

Option Methodology Description
Internal Jumper installed Internal Spindle Sync (ISS) Spindle at ISS Enable and signal is directed to/from Sync Enable jumper omitted at Port 1 and Port 2. (ISS Enabled) ESS Enable. Jumper omitted ISS signal is disabled. at ISS Enable. (Default) ---------------------------------------------------------- External Jumper installed External Spindle Sync (ESS) Spindle at ESS Enable and signal is directed to/from Sync Enable jumper omitted at Option Jumper Block (ESS Enable) ISS Enable. and Option Bay. Jumper omitted at ESS signal is disabled. ESS Enable. (Default)

Option Jumper Block

Option Methodology Description
Write Protect Jumper installed Drive is write protected. (WPROT) at WPROT. Jumper omitted Drive is not at WPROT. (Default) write protected. ---------------------------------------------------------- Spindle Delay Jumper installed Spindle start-up is delayed (SPIN1) at SPIN1 and jumper based on SCSI ID (12 seconds omitted at SPIN0. per ID). Jumpers omitted Spindle motor starts at SPIN1 (Default) at power-on. and at SPIN0. ---------------------------------------------------------- Spindle Control Jumper installed Spindle motor starts (SPIN0) at SPIN0 and jumper when the 'START UNIT' omitted at SPIN1. command is received. Jumpers omitted Spindle motor starts at SPIN0 (Default) at power-on. and at SPIN1. ---------------------------------------------------------- External I/O signal used for SSA transmits a sync Spindle Sync synchronizing among character over the SSA (ESS) devices. One device link within a network. uses this pin to ESS allows for cross transmit a sync synchronization over character (once per multiple networks. revolution), the other devices synchronize their spindles to it. ---------------------------------------------------------- Remote LED User-supplied LED BUSY (green LED) on connected to Device Electronics board Remote LED+ and remote location and Remote LED-. are enabled. Remote LED BUSY (green LED) on not connected. Device Electronics board (Default) is enabled.

Option Bay

Option Methodology Description
Spindle Control Ground applied to Spindle motor starts when (SPIN0) SPIN0 (Pin 2). the 'START UNIT' command is received. Ground not applied Spindle motor starts to SPIN0. (Default) at power-on. ---------------------------------------------------------- External I/O signal (Pin 3) SSA transmits a sync Spindle Sync used for synchronizing character over the SSA (ESS) among devices. One link within a network. device uses this pin ESS allows for cross to transmit a sync synchronization over character, once per multiple networks. revolution; the other devices synchronize their spindles to it. ---------------------------------------------------------- Write Protect Ground applied to Drive is write (WPROT) WPROT (Pin 4). protected. Ground not applied Drive is not write to WPROT. (Default) protected. ---------------------------------------------------------- Remote LED User-supplied LED -- BUSY (green LED) on Device Cathode of which is Electronics board and connected to Pin 6 remote location are enabled. and Anode to Pin 7. Remote LED not BUSY (green LED) on Device connected. (Default) Electronics board is enabled. ---------------------------------------------------------- Device Fault User-supplied LED -- Device Fault LED at remote (DEV FAULT) Cathode of which is location is enabled. connected to Pin 8 Indicates that an SSA and Anode to Pin 7. interface error was detected. User-supplied LED Device Fault LED at remote not connected. location is disabled. (Default)

Default - the factory default (as shipped) configuration.
