Product description

The RW525-ZA/MA is an optical library containing one multifunction 
magneto-optical drive and storage capacity for 16 platters (19 GB when used 
with 1.2 GB platters).  The mechanical autochanger moves platters between 
the storage slots and the optical drive. The RW525 can utilize either 
rewritable or WORM (write once, read many) platters, or both, subject to the 
capabilities of the storage management software.

transparent, automated access to data stored on optical platters when 
combined with storage management software such as:

Applications access data as if the files were stored on magnetic disks. By 
using removable media, which share a limited number of physical drives, a 
system can be configured with more physical storage than can be accomplished 
with magnetic disks only. Optical platters are known for long shelf life and 
are less susceptible to environmental conditions than most other storage 
media. Together with automated storage management software, the total cost 
of storage management is lowered.

The RW525 requires two consecutive SCSI ports on the same bus, one for the 
drive and one for the mechanical autochanger.
