3.35 PRODUCT RELEASE 12/28/89 3.35 is a VERY different release from 3.34. You should read the manual carefully and make note of the differences. Some of the highlights are: o Multiple 7000-FASST support o Selectable IRQ settings on ATXT o Microsoft CD-ROM Extensions Driver o Utilities Disk - SST User Interface Utility - SCSI Exerciser - Tape Utility - Disk Performance Tester - CD-ROM Audio Program o OS/2 1.1 disk support o Novell Duplexing (Multi-controller support - currently supporting multiple 7000-FASST cards only.) o Unix Drivers and Utilities supporting: - WORM, CD-ROM, DAT TAPE, 1/4" TAPE, 9 TRACK TAPE, 8MM TAPE FIXED DISKS, REMOVABLE DISKS, MAGNETO OPTICAL SUPPORT - Interactive 2.0 AT&T 3.2 SCO Xenix 2.3.X SCO Unix 3.2 Intel Unix 3.2 ***** ATXT Users Take Note!!! In order to use the ATXT with 3.35 you MUST set the IRQ settings to one of the settings in the manual. This is detailed in Appendix C. To do this, find an available IRQ setting in your computer selectable from 2 through 7. Then set your ATXT board up appropriately. If you have any questions, as always, contact Technical Support. *****SYTOS NEW WDDTI.EXE In order to use SYTOS with 3.35, simply copy the WDDTI.EXE driver file from the distribution floppy onto the SYTOS floppy OR SYTOS sub-directory replacing the original WDDTI.EXE driver. This must be done or SYTOS may not operate properly with version 3.35. *****MULTI 7000-FASST BOARD SUPPORT 3.35 allows for multiple controllers to be used in the same computer system allowing for the connection of many devices. In order to use the secondary 7000-FASST board, you must set the jumper settings of the board as directed in the user's manual. In addition to the jumper settings being changed, you must install a new file, WD7000.SYS in the CONFIG.SYS in order to use the secondary 7000-FASST controller. The WD7000.SYS file must be added to the CONFIG.SYS file if the second controller is to be used as follows: DEVICE=SSTBIO.SYS DEVICE=WD7000.SYS <----File must be loaded here! DEVICE=SSTDRIVE.SYS Currently the SSTSETUP.EXE utility DOES NOT copy WD7000.SYS to the boot drive. This must be done manually! *****NOVELL DUPLEXING Full duplexing is allowed, follow the directions in the user's manual for installation procedures. Note that you must change jumper settings on the 2nd 7000-FASST controller per the instructions in the user manual. ------------------------------------------------- Changes from FASST Software Version 3.34: >>>>>>BIOS ROM - There is no 3.35 BIOS ROM. The 3.34 BIOS ROM works with the 3.35 FASST Software Diskettes. >>>>>>SSTSETUP.EXE - o Netware 386 partition support. o SCO Unix partition support. o Novell partition names changed to "NETWARE" from "NOVELL". o If only hard drive connected has a block size greater than 512 bytes SSTSETUP will not run instead of entering the partition editor. o Multi-controller support added. >>>>>>SSTDRIVE.SYS - o Driver now supports multiple host adapters. >>>>>>SSTBIO.SYS - o /V Verbose option added. o /I Now does nothing. o /O Activates buffered writes. o /OI Activates buffered writes with timer interrupt "watchdog" service. o /W: Allows selectable windows buffer size o Timer interrupt "watchdog" service for buffered writes changed from INT 08h to INT 1Ch. o Multiple controller support added (this includes multi-controller support for SCSI "pass-thru" mode). o Multiple block size tape support added (1/2k, 1k, 2k, 4k, 8k, 16k and 32k supported). o SDLP SPACE command for tape devices now supported. o Controller reinitialization semaphore added for OS's that run above DOS and still wish to use the DOS partitions such as non-dedicated Netware and Netware 386. o Clock timer flipped back on if off during init. **ATXT Specific Changes o ATXT controller code now interrupt driven and supports SCSI message handling. o IRQ settings selectable on ATXT. >>>>>>WD7000.SYS - (New File) New file supports an additional 7000-FASST controller. >>>>>>WDDTI.EXE - (New File) SYTOS Tape Driver o Supports changing tape devices to 1/2k blocks through SDLP kernel. o Multi-controller support added >>>>>>SSTCDROM.SYS - (New File) Microsoft CD-ROM Extensions Driver. NOTE: Microsoft CD-ROM Extensions (MSCDEX.EXE) are not provided. The CD-ROM Extensions can be obtained from your CD-ROM Drive vendor.
