Chapter 1 Installation Guide ... This chapter outlines in detail how to set up your CD-ROM drive package on the PC. Read this chapter carefully before beginning with the actual installation. You will find the installation process easier if you have a basic understanding of the steps you are carrying out. Note Computers often vary in their physical make-up. As some of the instructions given in this chapter are general in nature, you may need to modify them slightly in order to adapt to your particular situation. You will need both a flat-blade and Phillips-head screwdriver to complete the hardware installation. You may find it helpful to also make use of the PC user's manual for reference purposes. Familiarize yourself with the CD-ROM drive. Figures 1 and 2 (please refer to packaging box) both illustrate the CD-ROM drive. .. 1.1 Installing the CD-ROM drive in your PC .. Your OJC-T10X CD-ROM drive has a distinct advantage over conventional AT-Bus CD-ROM drives in that it does not require proprietary interfaces to be installed. Instead, you can actually make use of the PC's existing primary or secondary IDE interface to set up the CD-ROM drive. It is just this flexibility which allows a variety of installation options for your CD-ROM drive package. Instructions for each of the installation options are provided in this section. All you need to do is select the appropriate installation option for your CD-ROM drive package and, from then on, follow the given instructions. 1.1.1 Installation Notes 1.
