Removing scratches from window glass

Postby cv70chall » 21 Mar 2013 12:53

I've heard about a way to buff out surface scratches on glass but can't seem to find any info on this. I have some on my doors (thanks to the felt/ rubber guides missing in the doors).
Any data on this? Is it a pain in the ass to do or relatively easy?

On side glass I've used T-Cut or a similar paint cutting compound but for screens I'd recommend.............. takin a hammer to it and claiming on your insurance
Seriously, if you got a 50 bucks excess or something then do it, no brainer

Will T-cut work?
I would have thought it was too light?

It would take a lot to get bad scratches out I would guess?

The more agressive type of cutting compound they use for machine polishing paintjobs would be better.

But I still can't see it getting bad scratches out.

I had a bit of frosting on my side glass where I accidently sand blasted the corner  .....wot a twat eh?
I used a bit of T-Cut cos I thought it was fairly mild and didnt want anything too aggressive on my first attempt but it worked ok

Frosts here in the UK do a kit, which I bought for my Mustang many years ago:

It got most of the scratches out, but it can dig into the glass and make it uneven if you go mad with it!

Windshield is brand new. Scratches are on the sides and quarters. I've heard Jeweler's Rouge works pretty good.
