Postby 73GoManGo » 12 Jan 2012 8:44

Does anyone know where to get a stencils to drill holes in the hood to mount the d-o-d-g-e letters? or do I buy the letters somewhere and just guess? or are they glued on?

I got a 73 Challenger btw.

I got a 72 that has the same lettering and my letters arent actually fixed into place, so, I could pull them off and measure the distances for you I guess could'nt I :?:

Oh they're not fixed? I thought they had holes they mounted into like the back tailpanel ones. I'm not even sure if a 73 had it to begin with, but I want'em any way.

thats ok, dont worry about it, I was just wanting to drill holes before it went to paint.

I don't know. could have been welded over maybe, I havent sanded it down yet, but it's an original rally hood though.

If the holes were just filled with body filler (most likely) the holes will still be there.

Check the underside for signs of the holes.

I made a template for a guy once. Just put some paper on the hood, use a crayon on its side and rub it across the holes. They will show up on the paper. I taped three pieces of paper together so I could get an impression of the hood bulges and front of hood trim. That helps locate the template in the correct spot.

My emblems are now inplace or I'd make another one up for you.

I remember seeing an original template just for this on internet some years ago. Could have been on the Hamtramck registry, could have been here. My memory is not what it used to be.

Right now, the only info I find is this :
http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/sho ... earch=true

and
