Bad body work on door sill/rocker

Postby redgum78 » 31 Jul 2010 8:31

Check out the poor job somone had done on the door sill replacment (I think most of you may know them as rockers?). They hacked off the old sill but left the old sill flanges attached to the body! This made the sill stick out about 3 to 4 mm from the rest of the body line!
I took the complete thing off and removed the original flanges. I also made a new top plate as the old one had rust pitting in it.

Look at the outside line. The sill steps out by about 3mm.

Yes, you are fully involved with the project now. Looks good. As a suggestion (you may have already considered) there are water drainage issues where the panel meets the body below.

Thanks for the comments guys.
This pannel had 3 drainage channels in it where the two bottem flanges meet. I will keep an eye on them for blockages once she is on the road, thanks for the tip.

I was watching a doco on the building of the new Challengers. They have heaps of quility checks these days...No way the factory workers would get away with your package shelf today Drew! Are you going to leave it how it is or unpick it and square it up?
