I have had for some time now a set of 70 rocker moldings that I am thinking about installing on my RT/SE. I ordered some hardware from RT Specialties that included 2 end clips (?) that are metal with a screw attached and then I was supplied a at least 6 plastic clips for each side. Does anyone have exact hole locations and/or installation instructions for these, as my car did not come with this option. I like period correct additions and this is a nice one for the SE cars since they balance the chrome belt moldings. Any help or pictures would be appreciated. These are two American car terms I don't understand.
You call sills "rocker panels". But the rockers are under the rocker covers on the engine.
But you call rocker covers "valve covers".

yes we call the area on the bottom of the door jamb a "sill" ,and rocker covers cover the rockers dont they?lol or cover the valves also,lol

and rocker panels cover the area where the rockers live lol ,underneath the door.where the floor/chassis,meets the body

Its the area that runs under the doors (sills in Brit lingo?). The modling is about 5 feet long and 3 1/2 inches wide. I am sure a car on this site has them posted...any help boys?

Yep that sounds like option code M25 Wide Sill Mouldings as were fitted to my car and missing long before i purchased it.

I will take some photos and measurements of the mounting holes.

Camera batteries have died on me.

But on my car I have 6 holes evenly spaced along the sill at 9.5-inch intervals with the first hole from the front end starting at 5 3/4 inches in.

The holes are 2 inches down from the top edge of the sill.

Some of my holes have been filled in by a body man in a hurry but most of them are still there. I use them to inject cavity wax.

There is also at least one small hole that looks like it might have been a sheet metal screw holding at least one front corner down. If there were others they were probably filled in. It may even have been someones attempt at repair if the origional fixings had started to come away.

1 thing thats for sure is that we never chuck a shrimp on the bar be que coz we call em prawns over here shrimps are too bloody small so i dont know where hoges got that line from

thx Dave...I think I have enough to go by here. I was wondering if ay of the service manuals have a section on this part and its location...what is the placement of the sheet metal screw? Tom at RT Specialties told me that each side had a special clip (I purchased it) that did hold the front part of the molding in place, but I am not sure of that placement. Maybe that hole is the first hole that you mention that is 5 3/4 inches inward?

No. The six big holes start with the first one at that 5 3/4" measurement. All of them 2" down from the top of the sill.

You should have six fixings per side for them.

The other clips you have will surely be obvious about where they need to be fixed?

Your best bet in any case is to hold the molding up to the body and see for yourself where it needs to fix. My holes are 2" down and obviously they will be running down the center of the moulding. So just drill your holes where you need them.

Barry used to have the engineering drawings on his website but had to withdraw them.

There is a poor diagram in the workshop manual. But it does show a little.

I also checked the parts manual and that shows even less.

Hey guys, this topic thread is a few years old but my question is new! I have a 70 TA and the fender tag has the M25 code. The sills also have the patched/filed holes (right where they're supposed to be). Supposedly this option was not available on TA's. What do you think? I am half way through a complete strip & down to bare metal restoration.

It could possibly have had them. Do you also have the build sheet (broadcast sheet)?
With Mopar never say never as the factory did some strange things on the assembly line, i.e. built cars that were never supposed to be built.

fal308 & dave-r, I last saw the broadcast sheet back in 1980...so it's long gone. I've checked-out the Challenger registry and will use it for some references. My thoughts are similar to yours about unusual or unique options. I figured if it could have had a sunroof (mine is not that one) than it could have had the moldings. Thank you.

Sill moldings were an available option on T/As.

The car shown at http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/ima ... /c0304.jpg has them on the broadcast sheet along with the seldom seen door edge protectors.

Good to get confirmation. I'll be sending Alaskan_TA paperwork for 2 TA's shortly. Mine & another junked/ parted out for which I've had the fender tags since 1979.
