Allrigth people....
I've sourced the parts I need....
The door skins will be used for covering the wheel arches...
I'll swap my near mint -72 front fenders, for rusted ones,...no charge....
My fenders will be used for making a dummy trailor anyway.....
Brackets for front bumper up for grabs....

Time for some relaxation....
Hey,....maybe someone should make a sofa out of the parts once I'm done making my casting ???

In an effort to hide my "redneck nature" my project is "under cover" whilst my neighbours parade in the streets....

Got a few hous in this Friday,...took some time off work.
My neigbour absolutely hate me for using the angle grinder at 2 pm on a Friday ???
I told him to chill, and that I was almost done cutting,...then his wife started yelling at me from their balcony....
Ohh well......
I've sourced a set of -70 taillights and side marker lights...
I'm still in doubt on how to do the front....
Should I take the cost, and get a decent -70 grille and go "stock",...or make a simple smooth front-end using only the bumper?
Suggestions are welcome.

JB

If you have airbrush skills, you could painy on a front end. Sort of like a funny car has a painted pront.

I think it would be a lot easier to get a different 72-74 grill and more or less bolt it in. You would have to change out the headlight bucket areas on the 72-74 fenders in order for the 70-71 grill to fit.

If you decide to put a 70 grill and tailpanel on it...I would put the 70-71 side markers on it too.

 Very cool. Another trailer. I guess my idea to make a trailer out of one wasn't that crazy after all.

Sorry, can't help with the front. I didn't use it. I wanted to keep the Challenger body line on mine. 8)

El.connection

Postby johannes » 17 Jul 2009 22:17

Hi Dave.
I remember you from the trailer-hitch thread.

Well, I finally came across a "starting point".

Good thing I did,...'cause I'm now the proud father if a 14 mounth old son,...and I sure need more luggage space...

May I ask if you used relays when making the connection for the trailor-ligths?
The way I see it, there is a risk of overloading the thin el.wires in the steering column, if you're NOT using relays....

Hmmm.
3 weeks of hollidays starting today....maybe I'll find some time to continue on this project....

JB, I went thru 3 turn signal switches!!!
DON'T put regular lightbulbs in it. :s021:
I switched all the rear tail lights in both the car and the trailer to LED's. I was going to do the relays but thought the reduced load of the LED lights was a better idea.

No more problems after that.

Oh yes, congrats on the new little one.

Almost ready for sanding + filler.
Adapting the front + rear at the moment.
Good thing I can borrow my friends -70, to prepare for the -70 tail ligths.

I hope to get some more work done this week.....

The black chally is a non #matching 440 6 pak w/stick shift, dana, the clothes-hanger at the rear, etc....
I had a sweet drive as I took it home to my place...

You are correct aboat the numbers of cars overseas....
If you enjoy cruising and looking at nice cars being driven, I recommend visiting some of the larger Sweedish carshows.....

Just so it has been mentioned,...there are aboat 15 E-bodies within a 1 hour drive from me... 5 of witch are ragtops.....

No,...you cant buy the ragtops,...if ever they are for sale I'll buy me yet another one...he he...

The Black chally is for sale,....look at "autodb.no" or "finn.no".
I believe he is asking close to 400 000 NOKs....
Considering the 25% Norwegian tax already paied some years back, I believe/hope this car will stay in Norway....

Latest pics

I've added some steelplates, so that the casting will have a different shape under the bumpers.

The "smile" in the grille is filled in.
These mods will barely show, when the bumpers are in place...

Lots of bondo to add still....

The area around the tailligths will be made seperately.
I plan to make a seperate casting from one of my friends -70, and add this piece to the casting I'm getting from my steel-dummy.

Hmmmm....
Wife is out,...so I'm babysitting....

The project is developing.....
That monster compressor turned out to be a waste of time..... Too big, and required STAR/DELTA starter, which meant that the el.motor had to be running all the time.....
So, I'm building a new one at the moment,...as I know I need a lot of air for the final sanding...

Sourced a lot of parts, grille, tail ligths, side markers,..trim, etc, etc...

I felt the trailer looked a bit "empty" at the top,...so I'm building a " power bulge" NORWEGIAN STYLE....

I foreign worker from Poland was commenting my project, saying;
" Ahh Bangla garage !".
..... referring to the TV series "Chop Shop" I guess...

I'm open for suggestions for a name to this creation....
The best one I've thougth of myself, is "E SPACE",...I guess I can get the letters from the rice boiler ESPACE....

Postby johannes » 31 Oct 2009 20:53

Hi Jon.
Guess my Polish friend recogniced the similarity between my garage, and the garage from the TV series...... and considering the cars made in that series, that's not necessarily flattering.....

Some pics showing the current status.....some 15 more kg of bondo..

Currently I'm all toxicated from the thinner I use for cleaning the engine for my "Fish"...... guess tonigth is the rigth nigth for painting orange ehh?

Happy halloween everyone....
