fixing scratches in glass

Postby Chris » 29 Dec 2008 16:13

I have small pit marks in my back glass, and fairly deep scratches in the side glass where it meets the trim when they are all the way up. Can these be fixed or would i be better off not trying it and just get new ones? I read about these buffing kits from Eastwood. Any advice is appreciated.

i Heard about methods of polishing scratches out of glass but most people i talk to say the results are just not worth the huge amount of time and effort spent. Also, apparently it is very difficult to get the glass back perfectly clear again. Any other people with other experiences would be nice to hear from. I would say, keep a look out for better glass. Back window would be fairly easy to find, but good side glass might be harder.

Thanks for the response, I guess I'm going to have to go with new, I found a place with all windows for about 850 us plus shipping.

Oh yeah, you can't beat new glass- it really lifts the whole look of a restored car. $850US is a lot of money- but it is well spent. Better to spend it on a visual item than something people can't see.
