I am doing a high end resto from the ground up on a a66 h code factory 340 b5 bright blue metallic body paint and a black interior non numbers but proper date coded engine. I am doing a T/A tribute with all the goodies and was hopeing on some forum feed back on changing the color to plumb crazy from b5. Will this effect the value in a negitive way. And which color will be worth more and easier to sell if I ever part with it. Any wisdom would help

I suggest that you keep the original B5 colour. Yes, it will effect the value if you choose a non original paint.

Another consideration is that B5 is a very nice looking colour, at least many guys at this forum seems to be thinking that. Nothing wrong with Plum Crazy except that it is quite usual.

Good luck with your choice!

It's a clone. It makes no difference what colour you paint it.

I am not sure I agree with that. Pretend that everything else is stock except for the T/A-goodies, then it would be far more easy to convert it back to original if the colour is correct.

I like both colors. When and if you sell, you have no idea what might be the color the buyer will like. Paint it the color YOU like. be proud to get in it and take it down the road. In the end the only one you need to make happy at this time is yourself. Good luck and post pictures as you go.

I am also restoring my A66 and had color questions. I was thinking about changing my Top Banana to Plum Crazy. I decided to keep it original since it is a matching #'s car. Now that it is painted I am very happy with the color. As others have said, I think that since it is a recreation you should paint it whatever color you like. Upon stripping my car I found its color history. It was Yellow to Plum Crazy to Dark Blue and now back to Yellow. GGood luck with the resto, they are sure a lot of work. :s006:

Yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow......................or yellow. Guess what colour my car is? Do want you want mate is the best advice so far but I have to agree with King Dave on the affect on originality and value.
By the way Daveman you gonna be cold this weekend. Just seen the forecast. Sorry.

Anyway if I remember right Crazy Larrys last mode of transport before he "bought his last train ticket" was very yellow wasn't it?

Sod that. :disbelief: I am going use the Grand Cherokee to go to work on Friday when that cold weather comes in. Looks like it could be snowing and a strong northerly wind straight from the Arctic Circle.

I do prefer to cycle in these days but after falling off twice on ice last winter I think the warm confines of a 4x4 will look more appealing at 7.50am Friday morning.

Black would be awesome Drew, I heard it is difficult to keep up though. :| What do you think since owning one.

If you are adding other accents not original to the car don't worry about what color it's painted. It's original all the way, or make it all your way. Keep us posted. :s002:
