I just purchased a set of fender patch panels for my '73 and I had them out of the box for two seconds before I realized I would return them. They were horrible. Very poor quality. Does anyone know where I can purchase good quality fender patch panels (area behind the wheel)? Thanks.

I bought patch panels from Year One and they were of good quality. Only problem was they didnt pack them enough and there were some scratches.
What kind of patch panels did you get?

After what I have been through with my car I will never buy aftermarket again. Just be on the look out for the part you need from a wreak.

I have often made my own patch panels in the past.
Patch panels you buy are sometimes so far out that you are better off starting from scratch yourself. But sometimes they just need a bit of extra work to get right.
To me metalwork has always been about working the metal. Not just tacking bits on. I am always prepaired to have to shape the steel. That way I am never dissapointed.

I ended up making a patch panel myself. The area of rust was just behind the wheel and was not near the contour of the fender's wheel opening (the rust was closer to the door). I purchased 20 guage steel and a cheap 36 inch brake and with a little metal working skill and allot of patience I was able to fabricate a perfecly sound patch panel. Mig wleded it in and it looks absolutely perfect. After I dressed the welds it looks light it might need a light skim coat of body filler. Thanks for the idea Dave.....
