I'm finally ableto replace the standard hood on my 1970 with a Rallye hood and was told the hinges and fit would be fine, but that I might need larger hinge bolts.
Any information on this and where I might acquire a set of these bolts?
Thanks-
We're getting verrrry close.

Not sure why you would need larger hinge bolts?

I was told by the nice fellas at AMD and Goodmark that in some case, the hinge bolts need to be larger.

Is this Rallye hood a new reproduction? If so they must be hinting at a flaw in their reproduction.

From the YearOne catalog:
H774 Reproduction R/T hood: Correct for 1971-74 models only, but will fit 1970 models if larger hinge bolts are used.
I am quite sure that it just is regular UNC bolts. They shoud be very easy to get hold of.

Hang on. Do they actually mean LARGER bolts or LONGER bolts?
They go into captive nuts so I was thinking that larger bolts would be tricky?

Are you trying to be factory correct with the bolt appearance also?

1970 hoods use a smaller diameter bolt than the 1971 & newer hoods.
Length is not the issue.

Interesting subject. My 70 hood bolt is 1/2" hex head with 5/16" coarse thread and an integral washer. The later models would be 3/8"??
I also heard the construction of the hood is a bit different due to newer crash safety regulations.

Ah. So if you need to use the larger bolts how do you get around the captive nut problem?
It would have been a lot easier if they had made the bolt holes the smaller size. That way they could be drilled out for use on a later model.
