Hi-Impact Colors on 1971's

On my Challenger, I was under the impression that GY3 Citron Yella was a Hi-Impact Color, but according to Jim Schilds book "Original Challenger & Barracuda 1970-1974 The Restorers Guide" on page 64, only EV2,FJ6,FC7,and FY1 are listed as Hi-Impact colors. Is this a mistake in his book? If any color is Hi-Impact, GY3 is.

The "High Impact" colours were a group of paints that cost extra. $13.85 in 1971 to be precise.

So if Y3 cost extra it was one of the High Impact colours. If it could be had as standard then it wasn't.

Some info that has posted on this board indicates that it (GY3) is Hi-Impact, but the book does not list it as such, so I guess until I see a window label for a GY3 car, we will not know for sure.

I can't find any evidence for it but I have always thought "Top Banana" (Y1) was the only yellow High Impact colour.

I think I found the answer, Here is chart I found on this message board that goes back to 2006, and it does show GY3 as a High Impact Color. It is very small print, so I dont know if you can see it or not. ( Maybe nobody cares )

Yeah I can see it. But can we trust that list? It could be where the confusion is from. How do you define a high impact colour? Anything that is bright? The ones you had to pay extra to get?

I don't know the answer. Lets hope someone comes along that does know.

According the the 1971 Challenger brochure GY3 is an extra cost paint so it is a High Impact color.

By the way, the numbers on that list are not correct.

I got the list from someone on this board. Is there a list that shows paint production numbers or sales numbers that is accurate?

No such thing as accurate production numbers. They kept aproximate percentages of how many cars were a particular colour.

These things you see where they say "only 75 cars were painted this colour" are a load of bull.
