decent 72 rocker panel needed

Postby nick68 » 23 May 2008 12:59

Does anybody make a decent rocker panel replacement part. The ones I have seen all look to be taller in the front than whats needed.

And also this is a great board, great info, glad I found it. I will try and post some pic's of my restoration of the the 72 ralley.

thanks in advance

You will have to trim whatever you get to replace the metal you want to replace. They give you a lot of metal in the replacement panels, so you can take a die grinder and keep original sheet metal in the areas where its not rotted. Or you could cut out an area for the entire rocker, whether it is all rotted or not.

Actually I am replacing the entire outer rocker panel, so I have nothing to patch to. I wish it was just a cut out a piece and weld in a patch.
I guess if nobody makes a rocker panel that fits, I will have to section the one i bought and weld it back with a skinnier front portion so that it does not hang down below the front fender by an inch or so.

Just get stuck into it with your 4.5 inch angle grinder.
