today i took my chally out for some fresh air.i opened the trunk and was looking around. :s008:

wanted to ask, what purpose does that hook/bracket serve attached to the passenger wheel well inside the trunk just under the gas cap area?seems as though something goes there or not? :hmmm:

i know the other side has the jack assembly.

took a look in the old threads and it seems it is a support bracket for the california emmision cars or ecs venting.i guess dodge put that bracket for all the 1970 challengers just in case it had the emmisions pipe?

here is a photo i found that shows the emmision pipe sitting on the bracket in the plum crazy trunk.

am i right with my guess?

hey tom i think you where right about it being for the vent tube.

thanks.

cool just found a photo of the same set up as mine-see the non ecs vent with the panther pink coloured trunk.

My '72 has the california emissions vent assy. and does not have that bracket/bumper piece. Maybe only on some 70's cars?
