What colour

Postby 70 340 » 09 Mar 2008 13:58

Hi,
I've been doing a full ground up resto on my 1970 challenger. The original colour is dark burnt orange metalic but i'm not sure if I like it or not. I hope to never sell the car and I don't want a car with a colour that i don't like but the problem is that it's a matching #s 340ci car. What should i do?

Thanks, Darryl

A 340 car is definitely cool! I would put it back the same colour but thats just me. I dont see that colour very often, I see Red A LOT which is what mine is :mrgreen: but I like unusual colours :thumbsup:

It's worth more painted the original colour. But that is up to you.

I painted mine orange with black vinyl. It should be metallic blue with white vinyl.
Nothing wrong with blue and white. I think it looks nice. But I wanted orange and black.

Nothing wrong with dark burnt orange either. I think it is a very tasteful colour. But if you don't like it.....

That is true dave the car would be worth more. I've been to a few mopar shows and also australia #1 show called chryslers on the murry in albury with 540 cars and we have never seen a car in that colour. It would be good to have a car with a unusual colour. The original colour on my car was so badly gone just from being in the CA sun since day one so it's hard to see what it would look like. I might see if I can get a small amount of colour and put it on a penal and go from there, it might suprise me :D

I love the color myself. Here are a few examples of 1970 cars the same color;

A very rich colour. And original, no question about it. IMO. :)
