Hi Guys,
I was thinking of listing areas on E bodies that are prone because of design or whatever Im sure it would be helpful to those considering a teardown etc.

So whos first where on the car hits hit first??

Hey Red, As the owner of a ex rust bucket/future rust bucket. It would be easier to answer where do they not rust.

Speaking from Indiana where they still salt the roads in winter. :x :(

Places they rust.

Trunk pan.
Lower rear quarters.
Floor pans.
Firewall.
Head light bucket area.
Rear frame rails.
Lower part of the A pillars.
Old beer cans under the front seat.
Trunk lid
upper cowl
Inner front fenders

Bob

Rust? Sorry but you're mistaken. There's no rust on E-bodies.

Because the vinyl roof cars were not painted under the vinyl they can rust absolutly everywere under there. But usually they start around the edges of the vinyl.

Vinyl roof or not they usually rust along the botton edge of the front and rear glass sealing surface. Spreading to eventually make friends with the rust from the edge of the vinyl top.

The rust along the botton of the glass then lets water into the car. So at the front the footwells will rust and at the rear it is the trunk floor.

After that the rust starts everywhere you would expect rust on any car of this age.
