rocker molding on r/t se ?

i am still learning about the 1970 challenger. noticed that some web sites say that all the SE cars came with the bottom rocker molding. is this standard for r/t se cars to have this bottom molding or was it standard for non r/t cars or was it an option on its own? i see some cars have it and some dont.my car does not have it. any info will be much appreciated.

Body Sill Mouldings (M25)
AKA wide sill mouldings. Available on all models except T/A.

Extra cost on all models. Pretty sure it was not part of the SE package.

thanks dave,just checked my fender tag and i do not have a M25 code on it so i will leave the car as is. :thumbsup: also the SE page from the data book does not mention the wide side moldings as standard SE equipment but it does show on both cars (i guess dodge just had them on both cars to show they where available) :s006: . so i guess im ok.

My R/T came with them but they are long gone. Just the mounting holes where they used to sit and rust the sills. :mrgreen:

The mouldings that came with the SE package were the belt moulding, the front valence moulding, fender and hood rear mouldings and the rear finish panel. My Challenger is supposed to have the rocker panel and wheel opening mouldings, too. They weren't what I wanted to see on the car in my vision of the finished restoration, so I left them off...... my car, my choice.

My wheel wells are drilled for the trim there too so I assume they had them once upon a time. No broadcast sheet to confirm that though.

Actually, M25 is just sill moldings, no mention of "wide". ;-)

I do know of some T/As that came with them as well. The misconception could be because the AARs were not available with the normal Cuda sill moldings? It was wider (taller) that the Challenger version, so maybe that is where the term "wide sill molding" came from?

Dave,
The wheel well trim was standard on all 1970 Challenger models except the 340 cars. So broadcast sheet or not, your car came with them.

Really? Wow. Another mystery solved. Thanks Barry. :D

You see so few cars still with them over here. I was always in two minds about fitting them. Since I cut the wheel lips that has not been an option so it made my mind up for me. :roll: :lol:

My 70 340 Challenger did not come with the wheel well trim. I wonder why only that engine? (not that I would want them) Could the other models opt to delete the trim or did every single car come with it?

For the A66 cars, they actually mention that it does not include the std. wheel lip moldings;

They were deleted on the T/As as well.

The only cars that I have seen so far that actually have a wheel well trim delete code on the broadcast sheets so far are AAR Cudas. Some have the moldings and some do not.
