Hey Guys!
72 Challenger here, i have a frozen trunk lock, not sure when it happened, i just can't turn the key but it will go in.
i have the new part on the way, anyone have any tips on how to get this old one out and the new one in?
any tips or advice would be great

I would try some WD40. Wipe it off the paint quickly. Or has the key become damaged? Try your spare key...

The only hard bit will be opening the trunk That is the killer.

I guess it would be damn hard to reach the lock from the inside of the car with the back seat out?

You might have to force the lock to turn or drill it out or something.

As I understand it, the key is currently in the lock? You cannot remove it? Have you tried a thin piece of wire inserted with the key and wiggle it while trying to remove the key?

I took it as the key goes in and out OK but just will not turn. I think he wants to get the old lock out to fit the new.

Yes guys.. let me clear it up.. the key is not stuck in it.. goes in and out fine.. like Dave said.. it just won't turn....lol.. Im not a master lock pick thief but i will try some Lube like you said

Not sure if tearing up the back seat and tring to work in the truck like a snake is a good option too.
If all fails my trunk lid is in great shape and i don't want it damaged...My locak lock smith im sure will open that thing up for me in seconds .. then I can just change it out

PS. From what i remember last time i was in the trunk... the lock is located in a real tough spot and you need some real small hands to get at it.. maybe my son should help me with it..lol

Yeah, lube it as suggested previously. I dont like wet lubes in that instance. I would try dry graphite, the pro lock picker can ease your grief. Good luck.

gday if you have a few keys have you tryed different 1s some time 2 aparently identical key will behave differently in the same lock ive found this a few times on aussie valiants over the years & they are the same locks as we have on our challengers

A good point. I had something like that in the back of my head (I think).
