I have a 1971 challenger that had a factory stripe but I have no idea what kind of stripe it was. I am thinking it might have been the stripe like the R/T one but without the letters. Does anyone know what kind of stripe I had on my car or a pic of a car with the V7W stripe? Thanks.

I think it may well be the R/T type stripe but without the letters. See photo one. I am not sure though.
V7W is a code that normally indicates a side accent strip. I do know that from 1972 it was a full length painted stripe not a decal. See photo two.

In 1971 the vinyl stripes with or without the R/T lettering were V6_ stripes.
The V7_ stripes were painted on pin stripes. The W at the end means white.
Here is a link to the engineering drawing for this stripe;

and this photo shows a black stripe - V7X ;

thanks alaska, sorry I have not replied here but you answered the question for me on the other board. Thanks again for the photo as I had never seen the stripe before now.

Ah! So was that thin painted pinstripe one year only Barry? Am I correct that the wide painted stripe was 1972-74?

Hey Dave,
It is a 1971 stripe, but some 1970 cars have been found with this style too. Not sure why yet....
As far as the newer stripes go, I do not have any information on them at all.
T/Ake care,
Barry

Hello, I have a 70 Challenger with the V7W stripe. It is a painted dual pin stripe that follows the top of the side body contour. Here is a picture of my car. Barry sent me some reference pictures so I could duplicate the factory stripe.
