Rear Bee Stripe

Postby turbobitt » 12 Sep 2006 17:08

Anyone have any experience with the bee stripe stencil ?? I bought mine from a reputable company and it is not even close to correct. My painter needed to fix the stripe so that it would be correct. I called the place that I purchased the stripe from and they told me that there are two different stripes. I think that they just totally B.S. me and I'm completely F@#%!en mad. They even had a picture of a challenger with the correct stripe but had no explination as to why there stencil is so incorrect.

Any comments ??

Attached is a picture of the stripe the stencil produced.

The stripe should look fairly straight when viewed from the side. Which means it varies in thickness as it goes along.

You sure you placed the stencil on correctly?

Actually. Read the rest of that thread I posted a link to. The stripe is not dead straight at all but does indeed have a slight bend in it.

However it should not bend as much as yours has I don't think? Yours also seems to wobble on the quarter panels.

I am positive we used the stencil correctly. the stencil has cut-outs for the bumper impressions in the quarter panels and is straight forword. I did review the post with the dimensions over the weekend and repaired the stripe. It may not be 100% correct but it looks very close now. I am just wondering if everyone just "wing it" and make the stripe without the stencile. I could have saved some money and fustration if I had found these dimensions sooner. But then again, I thought it would be a no brainer with the stencil.

Stencil was purchased from phoenix graphix. If you look on there website you will see a challenger with the correct stripe. When I called, they said that there are two types of stripes and that they don't sell the "wide" stripe that is pictured. They wouldn't do anything for me and only offered to make me another stencil if I provided them with the dimensions. I said if I had the dimensions than I wouldn't need the stencil !!! I think they are missrepresenting there product.

Yeah they are full of Bull. There is only one stripe and that is the correct one. It should be as wide as the end of the bumper as shown in the photograph.

Phone them again and ask to speak to the manager if it is not a one man operation.

When I called them the first time, I spoke to guy #1. Guy #1 was a salesman and could not provide technical information so passed be to guy #2. Guy #2 took a stencil of the shelf and verified that the stencils matched dimensionally and was applied correctly. Then I asked him how this stencil is going to produce the stripe on there website and he put me on hold. Guy #3 picks up about 2-3 minutes later and tells me that there are actually two stripes, a wide and narrow. At this point it became obvious that they were not going to help me and they just covered there a#$. Like I said in the previous post, they offered to cut a new stencil if I had the dimensions but at that point I would not need it, this is why I bought there stencil in the first place.

I have gone around the track several times on this and finally got a reduced print of the factory V9_ layout...... cost me $100 to get it.
The stripe goes up vertically from the front edge of the bumper. As it crosses the rear decklid from decklid edge to center to decklid edge, the deviation from straight across the car is .8", making it a very shallow V when viewed from above that is almost parallel with the back of the rear decklid. The body-colored gap between the stripes is .25" wide and the narrow stripe is .2" wide. I hope this helps!

It came from Year One with a stencil that was harder to figure out than Egyptian hieroglyphics before the Rosetta stone was found. I found it easier to do the layout myself from the drawing.
