Help Needed!!!! 1970 1971 headlight bezels.

Postby Moparman1972 » 22 May 2006 14:17

Ok, so I'm converting my 72 challenger grille into a 70. I got the grille and its mostly installed now, but I still have yet to get the headlight bezels. I see 1970 and 1971 headlight bezels on ebay, and it looks like there is a small difference between them, as on the 71 the rings stick out farther. Does anyone know for sure if 71 bezels will still fit a 70 grille??!! I can modify the 71 bezels to look like the 70's if I have to, but I dont want to get them if they wont fit anyways. Thank you!

I have a feeling they are quite different. Can't remember exactly how though.

Have you tried this place for the correct bezels?

Thanks. The stuff there is a little pricey, but I might have no choice. I noticed that 1971 bezels are kind of 3d in the front instead of flat, like the circles for the headlight holes come out and there are little triangles in between them, but I was wondering if it was the same basic shape and would fit in, because I can modify them if need be.

I don't think so. But I am struggling to remember what the '71s were like. The chrome edge was different. 71 had a line in it. The plate the screws to the car was different too I think.

Yeah, I just bit the bullet and bought another grille on ebay that came with 70 bezels. 415 bucks. OUCH!!! I'll sell my current 70 grille to make most of that back, but at least I got it. Thanks for the help guys, you are great.
