Windshield chrome removal

Postby Matt6767 » 05 Apr 2006 18:15

hey guys..I need to know how to get the trim off around the windshield. Does it require a special tool?..and if so what does it look like? While were on this subject...is it the same for the rest of the chrome that holds the vinyl top on?

Thanks Matt

There are clips that hold the chrome on and yes you need a tool to get them off. The rear window is the same. The side moulding has screws under the weatherstrip. I attached a pic of the tool.

I use a very long thin flat bladed terminal screwdriver. Not as good as the correct tool I would imagine but I get away with it.

The clips grab the trim around the outer inside edge.

The trim on the rear quarters is either push in or bolted on the inside of the trunk between the skins. You had better look for bolts first.
