Gentlemen,
Recently found your site. I purchased a 70 R/T from my brother about 6 months ago and wanted to let everyone know what it looks like upon arrival. I'll need a lot of assistance since I am a "B" body person and somewhat unfamiliar with "E" bodies. I have the fender tag but no build sheet. It has some unusal options that I have noticed, ie: 4spd w/air and 6 way manual seat. Since receiving it I have been able collect most of the parts required for assembly but I also own a 71 Superbee that is currently in the body shop and that has priority.

Welcome to the board.
I've seen worse cars than that turning out to be real show winners. It just takes time and money. Worth it in the end though.
We will give you any help we can along the way. Don't forget to keep us posted with pictures. Good luck with it.

Funny 2nd tag with only one code on it. There was apparently no room left for the 26-code on the first tag.

It has more options than you can shake a stick at. The original owner would have been better off with the SE version except maybe he didn't want a small rear window?
Very early production car. Build date was my 10th birthday!

Dave-r,
I thought the same thing, I also wondered why did the have to put all the R/T codes on the fender tag, ie, A62, N42, N85, these all came standard on the R/T.
I think that this is a late production car, 730, tells me July 30, 1970. Am I right?

Of course you are right!
I am going senile at an early age.
You just have to look at the VIN to see how late in production it is. In fact it could be the very last one made?

Quite intresting.
I wonder if Alaskan_TA (or anyone else) has something intresting to add to this discussion?

That's the highest VIN and latest date I've ever seen for a 70 Challenger...... a 70 anything, as a matter of fact.

I guess that the answer is that we are talking about two different years, right?
7th of october 1969
july 30 Year 1970

Yes the 1970 model year runs from 1st August 1969 to 31st July 1970.
So in your case they were three months into production when they ordered your car.

Rick,
I discovered your post while doing an internet search for old cars that I have owned. I bought this car new in December 1969 (oops I mean Dec 1970). Checking through my files I didn't find the build sheet but I did find the Monroni. I have a lot more information on the car. Feel free to contact me if you are interested.

Very cool! I just emailed Richard with a link to this thread.
Do you have items like this for other cars you own?

Oh, yeah, as far as 1970 Hamtramck VIN numbers go, there are some out there higher than this car.

Pete,
I am extremely thankful for you finding such an item. Barry actually called me at home to let me know that you found this. I am shocked that after 30 years some of this car would still be around. I'd be extremely interested in anything that you have concerning this car. Please feel free to drop me a line or an email anytime.
Thank you so very much,

Hi Rick,
Glad that you found it useful. I'll try to put all the information that I have in some sort of order. I have all the warranty repairs & maintenance records. I'm not sure what condition the car was in when you got it. Looks like a basket case but a couple modifications that were made included a heavy duty drive shaft like the ones used on Challenger Pro-stock racers in those days was installed. That one might throw you if you were doing a full restoration back yo stock. It was a larger diameter, had larger bearings and was specially balanced. Also I installed an Edelbrock Torker intake manifold. The original stock manifold had a casting flaw that leaked vacuum.

Yes, I have similar information on a 1966 Corvette Roadster with both tops and a 1973 401 CID 4 speed Javelin (very fast car).
