Correct Mirror?

I had a guy tell me at a car show last week that my '70 Challenger has '71 mirrors. Can anyone verify this for me? The mounting base measures 6.5" in length, and the mounting holes are 3" apart.

VitaC,
Look in Forum-Vin,Options. Topic-Sticky 1970 dealer brochure and scroll down to the side-view mirror. there are no measurments but it looks the same.
I just bought my 1970 (Pictures soon, just arrived   ). Mine measure 6.25in. in length with screws 3in. apart on center.

If they're not 70's mirriors someone on this board will tell us.

It looks like a 71-74 mirror to me. The 1970 only version had a smaller base. Use the search facility on this board to look up mirror topics. I am sure we have covered this (with measurements) before in the past.

Definately not a 1970 mirror.

Well according to the pictures, the old dude at the car show was right. Mine aren't original. :disbelief:

Here's the next question...where can I get a set of 1970's? :s008:

No problem, you just need lots of $$$$$$$$ A chrome set in show car condition costs somewhere around $700-$900 at ebay. Cheap, isn´t it? :s009:

If you settle for a right-hand mirror only, you can buy repops from http://challenger.mpoli.fi/forum/viewto ... 0092#20092 , for instance. I have no idea if the quality is good or not though.

Christer that is envy not sympathy!

On the subject or door mirrors. I have the correct 1970 mirror on my drivers door and the later version on my passenger door. If they were cheap to replace I would have done it. But the way things are I don't care that much. Only an expert would notice.

I did, but the listings only showed passenger side mirrors, and currently there are no mirrors listed for sale at all. Doesn't really matter though, as I agree with "regnellahc". I'll keep my "incorrect" mirrors for now. There are some more important restoration items that I can throw my $$ at.

Thanks for the enlightenment guys. :tears:

My factory mirrors are off the car (70 340 Challenger) while it's being painted. So, I measured them yesterday. The mounting holes are 3" apart and the mounting base measured 4.25" in length. I also looked at a 71 Challenger with chrome mirrors yesterday and there IS a difference.
Hope this helps.....

The set of mirrors below has been for sale for a couple of months now. Always the same buy-it-now limit ($900) and always buyers who loose their intrest when the price is somewhere above $500. Let´s see how it turns out this time!?
